As a Mopar fan, I can appreciate beautiful original cars or perfectly restored cars alike but it is becoming rare to find one of these cars in driver condition. Ya know what I mean? These fantastic Plymouth muscle cars (Satellite, Belvedere, Road Runner, GTX) were built at a time when it wasn’t uncommon to hit a gravel road every so often and I love seeing this car sitting in an unpaved parking lot with mud on the tires, some love marks (dents, dings) and what looks like could be a driver after a weekend’s worth of work. Interested? Find it here on eBay with bidding at $8,000 with about 6 days left.
These are beautiful cars when restored, but it is a very handsome car sitting in the mud puddle! This Road Runner was restored 25 years ago according to the seller but it sure looks original now. It is powered by the 383 V8 which turns freely but doesn’t start. The seller says that it was parked 20 years ago because it wouldn’t start. Those 5 years between the restoration and the time it wouldn’t start must have been rough!
The quarter panels look unusually good and several underside pictures in the auction look good too. There’s some rust is on the doors and the rear floor but replacement panels for these Road Runners are easy to get. Maybe I just loved watching the General Lee play in the mud and this Road Runner reminds me of that? Or maybe I just really love seeing a solid muscle car that I wouldn’t worry too much about adding a few more dents while having tons of laughs in? Would you restore it or enjoy it as is?
I’d rather see Daisy play in the mud, is that wrong of me?
Not at all…
good
she bringing the Golden Eagle CJ also … added asset bonus
Now that is Patina
Patina on Daisy or the Road Runner? I’m confused…
I wouldn’t restore it. First, I wouldn’t have enough money left after paying what this will sell for. I have vintage 383 Road Runner tastes on a Volare Road Runner budget. But second, it’s just cool, and original. Hope whoever buys feels the same!
Have you seen the latest post? A Volare Road Runner, and it’s $18,000!
Yea, though you mean he’s asking $18,000. Unfortunately, I would be very surprised if he got anywhere near that amount. He’ll probably have to take the “1” off that price if he really wants to sell it
Michigan plates = rust. It’s the law there.
Have always loved mopars and Ford’s owned a few very cool ones too, 69 R/T.69 Galaxie 500 N-code 429 4 speed, which come to find out only 400 or so were made.{last yr. of 4 spds. in the fullsized fords}.And other cool assorted B bodied mopars. But was doing the wrong things, and the wrong things with my “dead presidents”,and sold em off to support my nasty habit. Now these cars are out of my price range, So I bought my first G.M. product a 66 Cutlass with a non-factory 350 4 speed. for 3000. My favorite body style is the 68-70 Dodge B-body coronets. My second may be the 66-442. Provides relief to my itchy left foot while driving it 50 miles home on Sunday, what a blast. I’m good thx. Ma Mopar.
NZ has a fish called an ‘Orange Roughy’ – I’d describe this Road Runner the same way.
I think there could be a fair amount of rust in the rocker panels, having looked at the underside image….
if you magnify the pics on ebay, take note, the black whatever it is coating on the top surfaces and the side.. it’s been sitting under a tree that is tree sap maybe not years upon years, but, a good three or four years worth I have heard of worse hope someone brings it back to its former glory
Love the photos of this old machine parked next to the mud puddle, all old looking and not “trailerized”, but ready for another romp down that dirt road, sideways in the turns and hard on the gas peddle, stomping on it for all it’s worth! BUUWAAAH!!! Oh yeah, this car is in its element here, although staged since it doesn’t run, not yet anyways. Soon, hopefully.
Judging by the front view of the car you need $1500 just to clean the grill up another 5000 to clean the rest of the body who knows what else you’re fine
