Pole Barn Find: 1984 Chevrolet Corvette

What is it about pole barns? They’re like the third-likeliest spot to find a forgotten car, right after the proverbial barn or garage. This 1984 Chevrolet Corvette belonged to a friend of the seller, and when he passed away, the seller earned the right to list it for sale. It’s a sharp color combination, featuring black paint over what looks like a black interior with cardinal red carpeting, but it’s still a tired C4 with an automatic. The Corvette is listed here on craigslist for $4,295.

Like so many others, the seller claims it was running when parked. With the original 350 under the hood, I’d say the odds are decent that it will fire up again without too much coaxing. The mileage is a hair under 130,000 and the seller reports that it was parked for two years before his friend unfortunately passed away due to a heart attack. Presumably, it hasn’t been parked much longer than that, but it would still help if the seller would confirm the engine isn’t locked up. The interior appears to be in good shape, especially for a project.

The paint looks a little flat, but fingers crossed it will come back to life with some elbow grease. We don’t see C4 Corvettes in black all that often, so it does have that going for it. The original wheels – which now have a nickname of “salad shooters,” thanks to the VW community that has been retrofitting them to late-model econoboxes – remain attached and in good shape. I suspect the seller is helping to move a few different items along if that Jeep in the background is any indication, so perhaps a call would be worthwhile even if the Corvette isn’t your bag.

Yep already. I would have picked it up just for parts. The interior looks to be pretty decent. Watch the 84s, hey have cross fire injection as opposed to throttle body. Word is they are a little more fiddly.

I doubt the paint would ever come back on it. This was the era of GM having the clear coat let go from the paint on most everything.

Yes, delam was a huge deal. For a while go would either repaint or pay out one time if it looked bad. By buddy had a Chevy (don’t remember the model) that was terribly delaminated. He took the money then sanded and rattle canned the horizontal surfaces.
