It has been reported that there are 6 of these left in the world and only one, this one, in the U.S.A. This 1958 Citroen Van Store is located in Orange County, California and is listed for sale here on craigslist for $35k. That’s a lot of money, but this thing is awesome and was meant to be a portable store so perhaps the expense could be justified by the right person?
The Van Store when opened has a large footprint. This unit, according to the owner, has 40,000 original miles and is completely stock. This unit was also for sale in 2013 for $50K. It is powered by a 4-cylinder engine with a 4-speed gearbox. It does run, but according to the owner, the brakes need attention.
This could be the perfect rig for us to travel around to car shows and races selling Barn Finds t-shirts! Heck, there’s even a covered spot back there to display a car. If it were yours, what would you try to sell out of it?
Motor-on,
Robert
Wow that is amazing.
Best food truck ever with its own patio!
I’ve never heard of this, and I’m not sure what it could be used for. Roberts idea is probably as good as any.
loads for sale in france much cheaper – but they are in vogue.
Please send me the links to those!
Okay so I’ve seen this problem regarding the Chinese characters on Craigslist before but what is the deal?
This ONLY happens when using links here at Barnfinds.
Of greater concern on my Android when I follow Barnfinds links I get the Chinese script but on my Mac laptop I get a security warning.
The language is set wrong on your craigslist. You should be able to fix it by clicking this link: https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/5289882272.html?lang=en
Let me know if that works for you.
Same thing is happening to me, shows up as Chinese characters and only on the Barnfinds link. Hard to change your language setting when the page that shows up with barn finds is all Chinese
Unique vehicle! I wonder how difficult it will be to find parts?
Market vans as mobile stores set-up in the “market square” on market day(s) are common in France. Not just in villages and small towns, but also large cities.
You’ll enjoy (as will your significant other) this French movie “The Grocer’s Son” where a Citroen van plays a prominent role. Watch the minute and a half trailer:

James, very cool! I found the movie on Netflix, I plan on watching it tonight!
Thanks for the link. This van is legit. It’s from Castres [so the 81 on the plate is good] and, if I’m not mistaken, it says “outillage” on the door—meaning that whoever owned the van in Castres sold tools from it.
Thats a great look van, but $35K?? And then you have to get brakes for it? Dude, you need to make it near perfect for your asking price!
It would work as a paddock for a motorcycle race team. Or someone could restore it and use it as a gimmicky catering truck for parties or weddings.
chase vehicle for bicycle race team.
love the idea for a traveling food store and patio.
traveling sales vehicle for summer rendezvous or summer art festivals.
heck it could be a mobile summer ‘camp’ at elevation out west. (who needs a cabin on your newly purchased 120 acres anyway? – cheaper than building).
sell mopar parts or chevy sb crate motors at meets
go to cars and coffee and sell coffee and danish
o yea, sell shirts at dead festivals! o wait, the dead dont play anymore ….. ok sell shirts at phish concerts – they’re still around right?
Tacos. Definitely tacos.
Nah. Would have to be some sort of French pastries. Gotta stick with the country of origin? (grins)
Oops, the posting is now showing as expired.
Too bad, I wanted a look at the CL page.
I’ve seen this one for sale before. I like it and it would be great for car shows or selling parts/food/t shirts so forth out of. But the price is too high for me.
Cool truck… maybe the price drop will help it find a new home.
