Pristine 46k-Mile 1991 Honda Prelude 2.0Si

Despite having a reputation for building sporty and reliable compact vehicles, the Honda Prelude doesn’t come up in conversation nearly as much as other models, such as the Civic Si or CR-X.  Unfortunately, just like other Honda models from the era, there aren’t too many survivor-quality Preludes left, and this 1991 Honda Prelude 2.0 Si that’s available here on eBay is a fine specimen of a final year 3rd-generation model.

This Prelude is available in Naples, Florida with a clean title. The seller believes that this particular vehicle had one owner during its lifetime. Despite taking excellent care of the coupe, the original owner supposedly traded it in on a Prius.

There are no noticeable flaws on the exterior, which is truly impressive for a car of this nature. The Phoenix Red paint still shines brightly, and there’s no blemishes or faded clearcoat.

The interior is in similarly well-preserved and original shape, and occupants benefit from working stereo and air conditioning systems.

Under the hood, you’ll find a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, which has a documented 46,527 miles on it. The engine pairs to an automatic transmission, and while it’s somewhat unfortunate for a car such as this Prelude to have a slushbox, it does shift smoothly.

At the time of publication, bidding is at $8,100 with the reserve not met. How do you feel about this survivor Prelude?

It is shocking to see one of these that hasn’t been hit in the front.

I’ll say it early, must be the automatic that helped preserve this car. Looks Sharp though. These were nice in their day and still are.

I owned an 1989 2.0 si automatic prelude and can confirm it was a fun car to drive even with the automatic!

And i will bet the reserve won’t be met. Take the $8200 and run Dealerman! You probably gave some grandma $4500 for it tops. Jeeze!

I’m betting more like they stole her trade for $2,000 or so … and spent 15 minutes telling her what a fabulous deal she was getting.

I’m usually such a “Richard” on this site, I though I would cut Dealerman some slack. Thanks for covering for me! You nailed it.

I hate to be the one that has to say it, but if you pulled up to a car show in my city with this car, you would probably be directed to the spectator parking lot. Not the first make or model that pops into my mind when I’m thinking of a hobby car.

I think Barn Finds unfortunately posts more somewhat desirable cars which end up being automatics than any other site

I would drive that in a heartbeat. I love the style and that 90s look just takes me a back to a good time in life…

Had one of these very fun little go karts til my 16 yr old totalled it in a minor collision.

Ah well, easy come, easy go, especially with new drivers – eventually learned that the FIRST thing they drive should be 30 years old and weigh at LEAST 4000 lbs. Preferably with bumper bars on the front and back too.

Seller says “Tan Interior”…let’s try that again, maybe charcoal? Always concerned when I see a $25 neighborhood muffler shop muffler where the original should still reside (bought our 92 Miata new, 27 years and 190k miles of 4-seasons driving in western North Carolina and still on the original exhaust front to back…just saying). Also, sister in law had an 89 Si automatic with 4-wheel steering, very nice but oh so slow. Good cruiser though. Agree with Ike, take the probably fat profit at $8200 and let ‘er go!

Fantastic seats. Incredible outward visibility. Quality materials, switchgear, etc. Beautifully simple wedge design. I enjoyed my ’91 Si immensely in the early 90’s.

This would be an attention grabber at a car show in my area. Some of us were kids when these were new, and now we want what we could t have then.

Tony Primo, ok, maybe not a car you’d be interested in, but why wouldn’t it be allowed in a car show in your city? It’s an almost 30 year old car in what I would consider very nice condition that defines what the hobby is all about.

My mother’s last car was one of these models. She drove it until well into her 80’s. She liked the 4 wheel steering which enabled tight U turns. We (her kids) jokingly called it the “Quaalude.”

These are great Touring cars……meaning LONG trip comfort… I still have the ’88 Si 5 speed with 4 Wheel Steering that I ordered new

Travelling monthly from Mass to Alabama, I kept from gettting bored by seeing how many miles I could stay in Cruise by thinking ahead, and driving accordingly.. 100+ miles was not uncommon to do.

Surprisingly packed tight under the hood for a 4 cylinder. A non turbo V6 fwd 3000gt has more open space, tho to be fair, the rear 3 plugs are pain to remove.
