Pristine No Reserve: 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu 350

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

Sometimes we come across a car that looks like it might just be a year old. This 1972 Chevrolet Malibu is a clean, California blue plate car with one repaint in its original Code 63 Mohave Gold exterior color. Many thanks to Larry D for bringing this one our way. The car is located in Simi Valley, California. It is listed here on eBay at no reserve. With three days remaining in the auction, the car has been bid to $20,100. It is claimed to be a 2 owner car with 92,000 miles on the odometer.

The interior is as clean as the exterior and the white vinyl seats and door panels have not yellowed like a lot of cars of this era. The black dash looks new and an aftermarket radio is installed under the dash. The full bench seat would be great if you remember how to play “corners” when driving around town or have your girlfriend sit next to you. The automatic transmission is shifted from the column. The seller notes that there are two cracks in the steering wheel. The front drum brakes have been upgraded to disc units.

The engine bay will not disappoint you either. The original 350 cubic inch V8 engine is still under then hood but has been dressed up a little bit. The current owner had a valve job done at 80,000 miles and also added an RV cam to bring in some torque at low RPMs. The automatic transmission is a GM Turbo 350 and is stout enough to handle the power put out by this small block. An Edelbrock 650 CFM carburetor and aluminum manifold have also been added. The spark plugs are fed through a MSD HEI distributor. The A/C is not holding freon and it sounds like the heater core is leaking a little. Exhaust is handled through factory manifolds into a 2.5 inch dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers.

The car is said to be rust free and fatter than stock BF Goodrich tires are mounted on Chevrolet rally rims. The car comes with some of its original parts including its smog equipment. The weatherstripping has also been replaced which is always a pain to replace. This should be a nice cruiser for someone and it should have some punch, too.

Back in the day, the owners manual used to show how to do a valve job on your car. Now it tells you not to drink the battery acid

It also told you how to troubleshoot starting, etc. problems. & how to ck the auto trans fluid & how much trans fluid the pan held after a drain from a powerglide.
These days, you can’t even CHECK the fluid!, because the car manufacturers no longer TRUST the owner to buy the right fluid!
& they sure don’t make motor oil & filter changes easy either, unlike back in the day.

Nice. As a “kid” I had one just like this but with the 307. Kind of miss it … Still love the ’72 tail lights

I had the same car in a different color when I was in high school. It did great burnouts! The 350 would spin the rear tires all day.

Looks like a wonderful car. A few things to look after, and it would present as new.

What a slick car. Kevin and Mike summed it up for me: fix that heater core and a/c then cruise. An aside,, Chevrolet really nailed it with the look of those rally wheels.

There’s a guy less than 1 mile from me over here who owns an exact twin to this one…and just as clean…it’s his Daily Driver. Sharp Chevelle for sure. I owned an SS that paint color years ago with black stripes and a factory big block 402 and cowl induction that I bought for only $800 bucks from a lady who worked at a Bank in Bonham Tx. My current Chevelle is also a factory big block 402 SS from the Arlington Tx Assembly Plant. They have been in my blood for many years lol..Yepp..I’m addicted to them…they are GREAT cars!!..and who knew that all these years later how crazy they would become to lot’s of peeps. Way too many SS clones, tributes, and fake SS’s for my liking tho….but to each their own. If ya got it…enjoy it!!
