Listed here on craigslist out of Duncan, British Columbia, this 1957 Ford Ranchero is a rolling project that’s ready for a new owner to take across the finish line. The seller says it’s not numbers-matching but is equipped with a 1968 352 engine and automatic transmission. It comes with good registration in British Columbia. Thanks for the tip Curvette!

The Ranchero is a fascinating piece of Ford history, part car, part pickup, and all attitude, but this one is clearly in need of some attention. The photos show a vehicle that’s been started and stalled mid-restoration, wearing a coat of gray primer that will need sanding and a proper paint job before it hits the road again. There’s no major damage visible, but it looks like it’s been sitting for a while and waiting for someone with the time and space to finish the work.

The interior appears incomplete and worn, but the bones look solid enough for a rebuild. Nothing jumps out as missing beyond what you’d expect in a long-term project. The Ranchero’s unique car-truck design makes it an appealing candidate for either a stock restoration or a custom build. With a big-block Ford engine already in place, the power side of things might not need much beyond a tune-up and basic recommissioning once the rest of the car is sorted.

The seller keeps it short and to the point: this one’s gotta go because there’s another project waiting. That’s good news for anyone in the market for a classic with good paperwork and a straightforward path forward. The ad doesn’t mention drivability, so it’s likely not road-ready just yet, but as a rolling chassis with the drivetrain included, it has all the right parts to build from.

Vintage Rancheros are gaining attention as more collectors realize how rare and cool these first-year models are, especially the 1957 edition that kicked off Ford’s line of car-based pickups. With its clean title and a fair asking price, this project could make a great foundation for the right buyer.

Would you restore this Ranchero back to factory stock or give it a wild custom paint job to match its attitude?

It’s gotta go because there’s another project coming. I guess his motto is “these projects aren’t gonna finish themselves!”.
But, if this car were nearby, I’d be on it like a bum on a bologna sandwich, especially for $3500.
I know the feeling, re: milage. I’d like to have another ’57 Ford “anything”, but that 3300 miles down to Orlando would probably cost more to transport than the current asking price. Maybe in my 2nd life when I hit a big lottery payout. A little too much for my 82 year old budget, lol.
“bum on a bologna sandwich”
LOL..
I’m gonna steal that!
boy that’s a risky rigged set up for storage. a good wind and it’s the ranch for the ranchero
How far from the border is it? $ 5000.00 CDN. or $3500. USD.
Good registration in British Columbia.
Located on Vancouver Island, B.C.
What is the motor and transmission???
I’m from Manitoba and it could be a project that I could get into
If you read the Craigslist it states $3500 US dollars and the engine is a ford 352 with automatic transmission. It’s on Vancouver island.
I don’t go on Craigslist I seen it on barnfinds
Just hit the link Joe and you’ll get the cl ad. That’s where you will get ahold of seller.
All the wiring hanging down below the steering column looks scary, a person is going to need a lot of patience to get that sorted.
A guy I used to work with sold me one of these for $140 in 1970. It was in really good shape. I needed money and sold it for 300. Wish I had kept it.
Wow, nice ford.
Get it running and road worthy, then drive as is. But find a nice period bench seat for it and clean up the wiring. That FE under the hood is easy and cheap enough too hop-up a bit these days. Keep it simple and useable.
Price is decent but too far away for an east coaster.
Ad is still up. Doesn’t necessarily it’s still available as posters often forget to delete ads after a sale …
Nice Ford.
