Duo Of Dodges For Diddly-Squat!

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

This pair of Dodge Rampages are available for a very reasonable price of $3,250–in Southern terms, “diddly-squat!” I’m not sure exactly why you’d want two of these little trucks unless it’s a twin thing where you have to have the same vehicles, or maybe you have two kids that you want to put into inexpensive, practical trucks? In any case, they are being sold together in Savannah, Georgia and are posted here on Craigslist.

I have a soft spot for the Dodge Rampage. There are times when a small, economical truck just makes sense to me and I like the styling (especially of the rare California Shelby version. Unfortunately for Dodge (and the very similar Plymouth Scamp), that time was earlier in the general public’s opinion and the Volkswagen Rabbit pickup had captured most of those customers already. Only 40,965 Rampages and Scamps were sold in their production years of 1982 through 1984, not enough to keep the vehicle around. Thanks to diligent reader Pat L. for sending in this find!

Surprisingly, the trucklets actually have a total capacity of 1,145 pounds, enough to label them as a 1/2-ton pickup, although by the time you have a driver in there it would be less. This one has graphics very similar to the Charger 2.2 built off the same platform and looks pretty solid but a little faded.

With the tie downs mounted on the bed sides, it appears someone actually used the red one as a pickup.

The seller only espouses about one vehicle in the ad despite offering them as a pair. The problem is we don’t know which one he is talking about! This one has been cosmetically “enhanced” with black paint over the factory tan, aftermarket aluminum wheels and a steering wheel. Note the presence of those quotation marks for my opinion. There are some loose parts included in the bed of the black one, but we have no idea what those parts are.

The interior of the red rampage looks much more inviting, although a little cleaning would work wonders! Regardless of their appearances, getting both of these Dodges for $3,250 seems like a good deal. What say you, readers?

      Do wah diddy HoA!

On the other hand ( there’s always another hand doncha know), you get a parts car to square away the 5 speed.

If you want an oddball dd capable of moving stuff around, and you have the rudimentary skills to take these suckers apart, and the memory to remember what goes where, it might be something to play with.

Leaving aside the Rampage part, the younger me…I mean waaay younger, would have jumped on something like this because in the pre internet days, it would have cut out all the intermediate bs like finding parts !

And I had an itchy screwdriver finger! :)

The ad says that one is an ’83 and the other an ’84, but I am not knowledgeable enough to figure out which is which. The ’83, the ad says, runs, but ‘not far’ because it needs gaskets and seals from sitting unused. Both are manuals. The red one has a sunroof (maybe aftermarket), but can’t tell about the dark colored one. There are clues in the ad that help identification, but not enough to be confident. One of them (at least) has no A/C (from the factory).

the red one is a 83 ,single square head lights, the 84 has 4 small square head lights, I had a 83 direct connection rampage I bought new,2.2 stick, ended up with 2 more, 1 black loaded, and a white one base model, the thing to do here is find a shelby daytona and do a front frame swap with the turbo engine thats what happened the black rampage the guy who bought it pulled 300 horsepower out of that shelby engine! became his wifes grocery getter!

The Rampage has always been a secret bucket list car (truck?) of mine…very nice integration of the bed, nicely proportioned and practical. Nice to see they are still floating around, and I was unaware of the the CS package…with the CS turbo mill, it would be even higher on my list.

Dodge switched to quad headlights in 1984, so the 1983 is the red one. Maybe the black ’84 is just a parts car, hence no mention in the listing?
