Rare Color and 29K Miles: 1987 Ferrari 328 GTS

The Ferrari 328 GTS is a car on the verge of having a moment. Collectors are snatching up high quality 308s and 328s left and right, with the latter being particularly sought-after due to improved handling and braking capabilities, not to mention updated looks that are subtle but meaningful. The 328 GTS shown here is a rare find made even more special owing to its rarely seen shade of Bianco over lipstick red leather, and for receiving only nominal points deductions during the 2011 Ferrari Club concours hosted by the Pacific Region Danville chapter of the Ferrari Club of America.

In general, the 308 model is one of the more instantly recognizable Ferraris of the modern era, which speaks to its terrific track record as a driver’s car with respectable reliability. The 328 followed in the 308’s foot steps, which had paved the way for the model to be seen as perhaps the best combination of all the things Ferrari did well: a gorgeous mid-engine design with timeless styling, a rev-happy V8, and an iconic gated shifter that has been been a Ferrari trademark for generations of its road-going cars. The 328 represented the logical evolution of the 308, while also signifying the end of the line for a model that one one of Ferrari’s most successful production runs.

The 3.2L V8 features electronic ignition and pushes out a healthy 270 b.h.p. The performance remains respectable today, with 60 miles per hour reached in 5.5 seconds and 100 MPH in 13. The seller highlights the point that this is essentially a turnkey car as it sits, but I am still curious if any major engine service has been done, as Ferraris of this vintage are somewhat notorious for needing belt servicing on a consistent basis. The presentation certainly speaks to the seller’s claims of how this Ferrari impressed judges at a Concours event, but with under 30,000 miles, one would hope it still looked this good, inside and out.

Speaking of inside, check out this stunning interior. I don’t think it gets any better than white over red when shopping for a sports car, old or new. Over the years, we have seen numerous 308s and 328s come up for sale, often wearing red paint over a tan leather interior. The fact that this is a low-mileage 328 GTS in a stunning and rare color combination makes this Ferrari an absolute home run for a collector, while also having enough miles on the clock that you can feel comfortable driving it to the next Conours event. Have you ever seen a 328 in Bianco? Let us know in the comments below and check out the listing  here on eBay where it’s listed with an asking price of $115K.

One of the more “practical” stallions, and for a long time on the used market somewhat affordable.

This presents as a beautiful specimen, and though the “non-color” white is not for me (fine on most anything but purebreds to my jaded eyes), there are plenty of folks who will love it.

A neighbor at my condo complex has a red one…turned out to be a Fiero kit car. Also has an orange Lambo Diablo…I suspect a kit car also.

White with a red interior might be rare, but not for me.

White with red interior is a winner by any means. Over 29K miles and an asking price of over $!!5K means it will just sit there looking pretty. Seller either isn’t interested in selling or has an overwhelming fantasy regarding prices.
