I’m a sucker for tri-five Chevrolet pickups. I think they are some of the best-looking classic trucks around. This one is from 1956 and can be found here on eBay with a current bid of $16,600. Now located in Naples, Florida, the seller says the truck came out of Montana originally. While it might look like a big project, there have been a ton of new parts installed. Have a closer look at this one and see if you like it as much as I do.
The seller lists the following new parts: new glass, tires, 700R4 transmission, oak bed, brakes, seat upholstery, Lokar shifter, visor, gauges, wiring harness, carpet, steering wheel, and column. They also say the 355 cubic inch engine only has 4,000 miles on it. Unfortunately, there is only one small sideways photo of the engine in the ad.
You can see the straight tailpipes sticking out of the back under the tailgate. The wrap-around rear window is a plus as well. Hopefully, this truck will find a new home and be enjoyed for years to come. It appears most of the hard work is done. The buyer could do the bodywork and paint, or drive it as-is. What would you do?
The hard work is the body and paint! I’d daily drive it but I wouldn’t pay that price to get it.
That’s one cool 😎 truck! Every body panel in the photos looks straight and the condition of the bed interior is phenomenal. Love it! I bet that old tired and oxidized paint would buff out to a really cool patina. I’d do that and give the tired interior dash the attention it needs. What a fun project!
This is like the company work truck that I had in the early 70’s except it was green and had ladder racks. Chevy six cylinder and four speed with the granny gear first. I drove it thousands of miles around town and it was as reliable as could be. Definitely a right lane rig on the interstate. The company owner retired it to his farm and I was upgraded to the 1965 Chevrolet truck.
I would up grade the suspension and get the stance right and some good looking tires and wheels and then drive it for awhile before I committed to any thing else. It may not need anything more than that.
It’s gone high bid 18,700 I’m amazed the stupid amounts folk are paying for old trucks. I have a 57 Chevy 3800 with the 235 engine sm420 4 spd. I may have to list it on the bay to what amazing amount someone would offer me. Back to the truck I like it from the looks it’s decent but I’m sure it’ll need a bit more. But you could drive and fix at same time I’d call it a solid 10g truck not a penny more.
