While this real barn find 1964 Pontiac GTO convertible (with PHS documentation) may look a little scruffy around the edges, I think you’ll be surprised how good this car looks under the dirt and dust, especially when you consider the parts it comes with. The seller has listed it here on eBay at no reserve with a $5,000 opening bid. I’m not sure where the barn is that it came out of, but the car is currently located in Scottsville, New York. Who knew that our Scotty G. owned a whole town? (just kidding).
We are led to believe from the pictures that this car came out of this barn. The seller tells us that they purchased it, presumably recently, from the folks that purchased it 15 years ago from the estate of the original owner. As it turns out, the car has actually been in storage since 1976, so that’s 40 years of slumber, not 15 you’ll be working from.
As you can see from this shot, the underside of the car isn’t awful. However, there’s even better news there, just read on. I do hope the driveshaft is included somewhere, though!
Of course, after this much time the interior will need to be refurbished. But you can get a kit for $312 plus shipping for the front buckets. Of course, that’s just a start. Then there’s the rear seat for another $180, and all the rest of the stuff that you’ll need.
This is the original 389 engine. We don’t know what level of performance it is, but even when I put the lowest 389 into a price guide, I came out with a low retail of over $35,000, and a high retail at almost $120,000. So you have some room to rebuild the engine without going into the hole. Of course, you’ll have a lot of other things to do as well!
Here’s the neat bonus parts: the previous owner had already purchased rust free doors and front fenders, as well as reproduction floor pans and a trunk floor. And weatherstripping! So part of your hardest work is done. Now get to purchasing this great project and stop me thinking about how much I’d like an American convertible to cruise in with my family!
still someone is trying to push this one out…..to some else’s barn….
Assuming the documentation holds up, this find would actual break even/small profit when you were done. These are highly sought after. Bring your wallet and a truck full of energy bars..
I thought this one looked familiar.

Ha! Good eye :-). Well, I still think it’s a good find, and I’ll bet it doesn’t go up to $15,000 this time! Of course,it doesn’t sound like the tripower setup is included this time around.
Tri Power set up in good condition is around $3,000. More if perfect. Like 3 times more.
Hasn’t this seller used this same barn numerous times selling cars on ebay ???
We keep on seeing this same barn in a lot of ads. Must be an awful big barn with multi levels full of cars.
Yes that is the same barn for quite a few GTO’s. There was a Green 70 GTO just offered from that barn in the past week, the front end was all bashed in.
The seller knows that if he uses that barn as a backdrop, Barn Finds will feature it.
and feature it and feature it…. any one have issues with the frame – little rusty – that’s okay….but those pans look soooo much cleaner…..
