When Chevrolet redesigned their cars in 1958, they added a one-year-only model, the Yeoman. Based on the bare-bones Delray, the Yeoman was a six-passenger wagon with either two or four doors. When these vehicles were reworked just the next year, the Yeoman name rode off into the sunset, though the concept lived on in the Brookwood. The seller has one of these 2-door wagons that has the look of a sleeper, yet a powerful LS 5.3-liter V8 lurks beneath the hood. Located in Payette, Idaho, this potent people mover is available here on craigslist for $22,500. Thanks, Jack M., for the heads up!

The 1958 Chevies were bigger and heavier than the trimmer 1957 models, yet they sold well enough to regain the #1 sales position over Ford (which they had lost the year before). And they weren’t as over-styled as other GM makes, even though quad headlights had finally made it to the table. Buyers could choose between a 235 cubic inch I-6 and a 283 or 348 CI V8. Because of the budget nature of the Yeoman, it’s likely the seller’s wagon began life with the 235 or 283.

Chevrolet delivered 16,590 2-door Yeoman wagons in ’58. Yet, you seldom, if ever, see one like the seller offers. And especially with the surprise that’s under the hood. The seller doesn’t go into a lot of details regarding the LS 5.3-liter here. We understand these were often installed in GM trucks and SUVs around the turn of the century, and the minimum horsepower production was 285 to 355. In whatever form, this wagon should blow the doors off some of the 1970s muscle cars.

Though it looks good, this wagon has logged over 100,000 miles in total. The LS is a strong runner and is paired with a 704R or 4L60 automatic transmission (the seller references both). The dashboard and steering column have been upgraded, and aftermarket air conditioning has been added for the summer months. The brakes and suspension are better than stock, and the tires were installed in 2024. The paint is not perfect, but presentable. And the interior looks okay, too. Fix a small transmission seal leak, and you may be good to go.

Hefty price but a good looking car. Just don’t see ém like this anymore.
Wasn’t too much for someone, it’s gone! Looks to be a nice cruiser and step on the go peddle and nothing but smiles.
Sorry bobhess, this was a great deal, it is already sold. I would have bought it sight unseen, the ad and pictures were enough to buy it. Of course I love 2-door wagons.
