This 1974 Chevrolet Corvette is rough on the outside but has all the equipment to be a fun driver. It is equipped with a built 350 cubic inch engine and 4 speed transmission. The Corvette is located in Moreno Valley, California and is listed here on eBay. With 23 bids and 2 days remaining, the car is bid to $9,400. The engine is fired by a MSD ignition and the fuel is delivered through an Edelbrock carburetor.
There were three engine options in 1974 for the Corvette which included the base L48 350 cubic inch engine, the optional L82 350 cubic inch engine and the last hurrah for the LS4 454 cubic inch engine. The L48 motor provided 190 horsepower while the higher compression L82 delivered 250 horsepower. The LS4 454 generated just 275 horsepower and came with the engine designation on the hood bulge. Based on the VIN, this car came with the L82 350 cubic inch engine.
The interior is worn in places and the driver door panel is damaged. The car does not have power windows, power locks or air conditioning. The exterior needs paint and there is damage to the body panels (scrapes) on the left fender. The front and rear bumpers are different colors but they just need to be painted silver. I know some people will like the wheels but a set of vector wheels or optional aluminum wheels would make the car pop.
Total production in 1974 was 37,502 and only about 3,500 Corvettes were ordered with 4 speeds. I think this would be a fun driver as the seller states that it runs good and can be restored over time. It seems pricey to me for a unloved C3 but let us know what you think.
Looks beat.p pounded.
I hope the seller gets over $10,000. That will make my 1995 worth about $35,000. How this car is worth more than $4000 amazes me.
To clarify my snarky comment- I think this is a cool-looking Corvette and it is probably a hoot to drive. But having owned C3 and C4 Corvettes, I don’t get the bid. The 1995 I refer to above is a Top Flight <40,000 mile, two-owners before me, who were maintenance fanatic NCRS guys, six-speed, full (And thensome!) documentation, I needed a magnifying glass to see the scratch that was the only defect on the car, condition for < $13,000.
Loss the caps.
Just to clarify, for 1974 there were 3,494 close ratio 4 speeds, 25,146 automatics, leaving 8,462 regular 4 speeds, so 12,356 4 speeds in total. I agree with Ike, car is worth $4,000 max.
It’s not worth whats bid so far to you guys because you are not the seller, nor are you the buyers. The only thing holding this car back from top dollar is the paint, if it had decent paint and some attention spent on the wheels and interior I am positive it’d be a 15K to 20K car . All it needs really is a decent driver quality paint job, not any overpriced show car paint for 5K +.
Moosie. If you think this car is worth $20,000, I will sell you my mint 73 for 30K. This car needs a boat load of work. The front and rear bumper covers were urethane. Crack city. Garbage.
George, I said 15 to 20, without a personal inspection of the bumper covers it’d be speculation if they are cracked, in the pictures they appear to be crack free. If I were in the market for another Corvette I’d check yours out but wouldnt pay 30 unless it was truly spectacular. Mint has so many different connotations, and to you it may well be a 30K car.
Pricy!!!
