Rough Runner: 1962 Oldsmobile Cutlass F85

We have another seller who was just too lazy to take their find off the trailer to photograph! This really is one of my pet peeves, but at least this seller is being realistic with their asking price! This ’62 Olds Cutlass F85 is rough, but complete. It still has it’s original aluminum V8, which supposedly runs. The seller has listed it here on eBay with a BIN of $1,000 and bidding starting at just $200. The only way this deal could really get better would be for this car to feature the Jetfire turbocharged engine!

I’ve always really enjoyed the looks of this generation of the Cutlass! It’s got great curves and nice proportions. The lack of a big V8 is a killer for some, but I like the idea of the lightweight 215 aluminum V8. These engines have plenty of potential and can really make these hot little cars! This one is going to need a lot of work throughout, but at this kind of money seems like a good buy! So would you leave this Olds original or would you make it into a hot little dragster?

Already sold, and it’s only 7am. Yes, the lack of and poorly taken pictures make it a crap shoot if you buy it without an inspection or being there in person a risk. I’ve done it a few times and been slightly burned. Best of luck to the buyer.

I think there is a website like http://www.215V-8.com or something like that, all kinds of modifications to beef up that little V-8. GM sold the tooling and rights to the engine to Land Rover, back in the late 60s’ so you might find a lot more info on it on a U.K website. You can make more than 300 H.P. out of the engine WITHOUT a turbo.

Those sure look a lot like the early 60’s Buick Specials but both being GM I can understand. I had a 63 Buick Special with a V6 and it looked a lot like this car but tail lights were different and I’m sure there are a few more minor differences.

There is one of these cars near my house but it’s white; I am in love with it. I’m not sure exactly what it is about it, maybe just the lines or something, but I totally dig these…
