These Chevy Canopy Express trucks are somewhat rare. This one is listed on craigslist in Kansas City Missouri along with an assortment of other vehicles found in a pole barn. It’s an interesting collection. If you must have something that runs, there’s a 1950 Ford and a 1974 Ranchero that run. Someone had an interesting collection in their shed.
There are also several panel trucks.
This 1974 Ranchero is said to have only 36,000 original documented miles. In some pictures it looks red and not so orange.
Perhaps you’d like a 1949 or 1950 Ford Coup and a couple of extra parts cars.
Or even a 1940 Ford project. It comes with many of the missing bits.
How about a tractor? It’s a 1959 Case. There are no prices listed for any of the vehicles. Hopefully the seller is realistic and these find a home soon. Do you see any projects here that you’d like to take on? You have a lot of choices, including panel, pickup, flatbed and Canopy Express Chevy trucks or Ford automobiles, a Ranchero or even a tractor. Are you ready to take a big step up from your riding lawn mower?
1st car was a 74 Torino Sport, this colour, same roof, wheel covers and fact. tach. 351w aluminum Edelbrock with 4bbl Holley.
Goodbye to another collection. The canopy express, if it is a ’49, is extremely rare, with a write up of one in Hemmings, where the author claims there are only 12 remaining. I hope this stuff goes to a good home, and doesn’t get flipped like crazy ( which I feel the canopy express will do, it’s that rare) I guess they all found out what Louie had behind that fence all these years.
I hope no one decides to rat rod the Canopy Express. I can see the horror of it being chopped and dropped. Nothing against rat rods in general but that one is too rare to cut up.
What a great vehicle for a farm stand or something like that to use for promotion. A good restoration with company sighnage and the bed set up as a sales display…….or a farmers market vehicle it would be a great tool.
That’s a ’49 Case tractor incidently. Trucks like that Canopy Express are real collectors trucks. Not very many of them built in the first place and all too often they ended up as parts trucks for some other (more pracitcal?) restoration. Myself, I wouldn’t know what to do with one if it ventured my way. I’d probably add it to my collection and do my best to make it shine again. That truck should go to a good home. All the other cool rides there too for that matter. And that ’40 Ford that someone attempted to graft on a modern IFS; I’m sure someone’s going to be looking for a frame. I personally don’t understand why someone would go to all that trouble trying to graft on an independent front suspension when places like TCI offer a conversion kit that fits easily and is legal everywhere.
No doubt about it that canopy truck. needs to be restored, back to the way she rolled of the lot.Its just too rare to do anything else to it.Wow this guy had some kool stuff!!I want to get in my truck and go there rite now.
I went to the Craig’s list page to contact seller… but there was no way to contact. Anyone else get a phone number for the seller???
