Scooby Doo Mystery Van: 1967 Ford Econoline

If you were a kid growing up between 1967-1991, you definitely remember Scooby-Doo cartoons and the iconic Mystery Machine van. This replica is a 1967 Ford E Series van located in South Seaville, New Jersey is listed here on eBay and currently bid to $5,900.

The interior is finished out nicely with wood veneer flooring and bright blue shag carpet. The Mystery Machine in the cartoons is not definitively identified but most people think it is a Volkswagen or Corvair van.  Later episodes look like a Ford or Chevy van. This Ford E Series certainly looks the part. The blue and green paint looks correct and in good condition.

The pictures in the ad show the owner with a trophy at a car show. The van is fitted with a 6 cylinder engine and automatic transmission. By the way, the 5 foot Scooby-Doo stuffed animal goes with the van when it is purchased.

This unique Econoline van could be yours for a reasonable price. While I have seen other Mystery Machine replicas, they are few and far between. Let me know if you like this one and whether you would add the surveillance listening gear!

I vote “Plausible” for this one. Better than the last one, for sure.

Queue the debate in three, two, one…

My two cents: 2nd gen G20. No way a half ton could handle a dog that size, especially given how many sandwiches Scooby and Shaggy put away.

Who knew the “gang” had a B&M floor shifter in that stupid van along! Meddling kids!

Very cool…a lot of details incorporated into the finished product to make this one a legitimate tribute to Scooby and the gang.

This is a 6 cylinder with an automatic? That doesn’t have enough power to haul all the weight they added.

I remember the cartoon show “Scooby Doo”. I remember the “Mystery Machine.” I didn’t notice what van was used as a basis for the famous van, whether it was a Ford Econoline, a Chevy Van, or a Dodge A100. At the time, I was more interested in the characters in the show. However, I did love the psychedelic colours the van was painted. :)

I’ve spent a great deal of time rewatching ALL the Scooby Doo cartoons with my daughter over the past several years. One thing that has bothered me most was that they kept shifting where the engine was in the cartoon. Some times it was in the rear (and the corresponding hatch) and other times in the front. I could go on for pages discussing and pointing out the issue with examples, but I am sure you don’t want to hear it.

That trophy may be from the Wildwood Boardwalk Car Show. I saw it there a few years back. Very clean and well-turned-out.
