The Ford Falcon was in its third year in 1962 and continued to sell well with added competition from the new Chevrolet Chevy II that year. But the rarest Falcon that year had to be the Sedan Delivery, which saw only 1,568 copies produced. The seller has one of these scarcely seen vehicles, though it’s devoid of an engine and an interior. Residing in Decatur, Illinois, this rolling project is available here on Facebook Marketplace for $3.000 (another tip from Zappenduster).

Like the Ranchero pickup, the Sedan Delivery was based on the Falcon 2-door station wagon. Instead of side window glass, the SDs had metal panels and essentially were an enclosed pickup typically used as a courier vehicle. And like all Falcons built before 1963 (1/2), the Sedan Delivery had a six-cylinder engine. Either a 144 or 170 cubic inch 6-banger once lived under the hood of this Falcon, and a “3-on-the-tree” manual tranny was standard fare.

Little information is imparted about this Ford, though some evidence of its past is scribbled on the sides of this former workhorse. But with the motor MIA, along with most of the passenger compartment, this is a roller that offers a clean sheet to work with. Would you stuff a V8 under the bonnet and create a traffic light drag race contender? As the listing has been up for more than two months, no one with a vision has come forward.

This would be someone with deep pockets vision. A cool car that would look great restored but would cost way more than it would be worth. A shame being you just do not see these cars anymore.
Too many zeros in the price.
yeah, what a shame you would be way under water. you have to do it for love
Super rare (as mentioned). The possibilities are almost endless. $3k is not unreasonable IMHO. I want it, but live on the other side of the country with a couple unattended Falcon Ranchero projects – and others. 😔
I agree with the underwater/ do it for love comments. But I can visualize it restored with a restomod approach, and it could be vey cool.
This SD could use a 390 and a 5 speed manual tranny
Nice blank slate, almost what to turn the engine bay into what they now call a fronk and build a fire wall behind the driver and put a built 460; back there
There’s a guy in Northeast Nebraska that has a Yellow one of these. He has it rodded out but looks nice. This one though, those rusted floors should bring down the asking price.
the average guy doesn’t have the money or skills to tackle most of these car/truck projects, that’s why they end up here at ridiculous prices, I have been in the old car hobby close to sixty years and never seen prices like this, blame the TV shows and the “professional” hot rod shops.
I agree. gas monkey drove prices sky high
Just screams “Gasser”!!!
Would make a nice “Hotel on Wheels”
I have built 2 different sedan deliveries in the past (the way past), both Chevrolets, a ’55 and a ’57, so I have a soft spot for them. That being said, even though I’m not a Ford sort of fella, this could make a very cool street warrior. Problem is the price. That is entirely too much pocket change for this car in this condition. Since in reality the seller probably has zero plans for it, put 500 bucks on it and let somebody make a cheap street fighter out of it.
I have a gut feeling that the rear bumper is unique to the sedan delivery, is unobtanium, and probably the priciest piece of the restoration.
$3000. is the new $500.
That’s an awful lot of money for a rusted shell that is missing the interior, grill, rear bumper and the whole drive train.
