Size 57 Long: 1957 Chevrolet Limo!

Want to run an unusual limousine service? How about finishing off this 1957 Chevrolet s-t-r-e-t-c-h limo project located in St. Paul, Minnesota. It’s listed for sale here on eBay where bidding is starting at $6,500 and there’s no reserve. Scotty G. could fit half his small cycle collection in here!

This car is being sold as a project, but it actually doesn’t need that much — just an engine, transmission, a complete interior and probably a long driveshaft! Oh, and some bumpers and matching wheels. Okay, that’s a lot, but it’s well within the capabilities of the average backyard mechanic with some help from an upholsterer. For once I won’t complain when one of you says “drop in an LS!”

My only complaint with the stretch job is that they didn’t make the middle window the same height as the originals. I’m sure there’s a reason for that, but I’d at least look at the possibility of raising it. Or perhaps a repaint in black with tinted windows to camouflage the fact?

Be an optimist and look at the interior as a blank canvas! It’s not like it’s original anyway–go have some fun! At least the glass looks intact, and the only hole in the floor is a relatively small one.

I’m sure once completed this would attract a lot of attention. Folks look at limos anyway, I guess to try to figure out who’s inside. In this case, it could be you! How would you finish this lengthy project?

It happens I’ve seen a red stretch 57 in this area for a couple of years now. It’s in private hands and was in a company car show for a couple of years. I’m fairly sure it’s not this one as that one was complete while this one obviously isn’t.
It’s an interesting premise but not something I’m into.

I’m one of those people who can look at a limousine and not give a skinny crap who’s inside, although I once saw Steve Wozniak in his Jag when I was on the left coast & thought that was kind of cool… the “WOZ” vanity plate kind of gave it away… when we passed him in our rental Cougar XR7, sure enough, hey there Steve! He didn’t wave back. This car… yeah, that window is awful. A darker color would camouflage it a bit but not enough.

The rose bush looks pretty good outside the window. That’s About all I’m ininterested in.

Would finish it up to Uber spec and then
use it for a king-size Uber car. And if I
wasn’t doing Uber, there’s also renting it
out for proms and weddings. Or…find
a ’57 Chevy hearse and start your own
mortuary! Maybe the mayor of Oldtown
USA in Kissimmee could use it for a
campaign car. No matter how you use it,
you’ll be the center of attention wherever
    you go!

“Please no inquiries unless you are planning on bidding”

Uh, no. It goes the other way, mate. Horse in front, cart in back.

Use as a proper limo, no looser uber junk. And it could also serve a marketing tool for the bus company. Saying.” Look at us we have a piece of history. Yours to rent out on special occasions.”
