The term “solid” when dealing with a restoration project tends to be a subjective term. A car with a lot of rust typically isn’t labeled as solid. A car with some rust that is worth saving can usually be labeled as solid. This 1970 Plymouth Barracuda, found here on Craigslist, falls somewhere on that “solid” spectrum.
The seller states that they purchased this Barracuda because the frame rails were so solid and that it was a car worth saving. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t rust. The listing gives some decent detail about where trouble the trouble areas are in regards to what sheet metal would need to be replaced.
After this car was purchased as a bare shell, the owner spent time collecting parts and helping to turn it into a rolling project. Unfortunately, those nice looking wheels and tires won’t be included in the sale. Although the car originally had a 335 horsepower 383 with a four-speed transmission, those items aren’t with the project either.
Thankfully, the seller did spend some time tracking down some parts to help the next owner move the project along. Another positive is that it sounds like the previous title issue was sorted out and does come with a clean Kansas title. It may be hard to justify the $8,000 asking price without any drivetrain in place. So, is this Barracuda worth saving? If so, what would be a reasonable price?
Hey, at least this one appears to be an actual automobile rather than a decomposing picked-over parts car like a few recent features.
Great color combo. I’d change the engine to a 440 or Hemi.
Still way too gone for me when there’s so much to do & nice original or restored options available. I bet it sells quick for the ask to somebody who has the wherewithal to patch it together.

Where you getting your numbers? Total junk 70’s actually sold for $10,000…. I’ve been watching these since I sold my 70 legit ‘Cuda project almost rust free for $1200.00 back in 1985. No engine of course. LOL
$8000 all day!!!! I’d snatch it a.s.a.p. 1970 anything Barracuda for this? Good luck they want $11,000 for scrap metal..
By the looks of the interior pic, I don’t think this is an original 4-speed car. I’ve seen a lot of automatic cars “converted” to manuals and the tunnel is cut, or chopped out, like that, to make room for the shift mechanism. Need to see data tag or build sheet.
It was on Ebay as well….and it’s gone. Like was pointed out by the seller it was a picked over by the time he got it – and the factory shifter tunnel has been cut out as they go practically all the way to the firewall on an Ebody- cut many a 4 speed humps out before the repop world came about.
Always funny to watch the comments on one make versus another as some only seem to trash one brand over theirs.
