Sport Custom: 1970 Ford F-250 4×4

It wasn’t too many years ago when a truck like this would be a fairly affordable project for someone. Since then, most trucks from this era have jumped in price. This 1970 Ford is a 3/4-ton 4×4 and can be found here on eBay with a current bid of just over $7,700. Located in Arlington, Texas, there’s no information in the ad regarding the back story of this truck, but it still looks like a decent project. Check out this truck and see if you think there is value with this one.

The engine is an FE big block 360 V8 backed by a 4-speed manual transmission. The seller says the truck “runs and drives decent” but they also say it will require some attention to get it into daily-driver shape. They also mention the four-wheel-drive system is in working condition.

The interior has the typical saddle blanket seat cover. If I was selling this truck, I would either remove the seat cover or replace it with a similar one depending on the condition of the factory upholstery. Overall, it looks like the interior on this truck hasn’t been messed with at all over the past fifty years.

Other than a small rust hole on the driver’s fender, the body looks fairly solid. There are also pictures of the undercarriage which look good. I’m not sure if the truck spent its whole life in Texas, but it may have. As mentioned before, this looks like a nice project, but I’m not sure if it is worth the current bid. What do you think?

Not a ’70 grille. Converted to electronic ignition.

just about every last one of the 67-72 Fords in this area had rusted front cab mounts before they were 15 years old.

This has nothing to do with the seller. He’s running a no reserve auction that so far has received 16 bids spread out among 5 bidders with one day left, which is when most of the action normally takes place.

GLWS ,but this level of truck was worth way less than half of the current bid not that long ago. Prices come down or I need to win the lottery.

I’m with you there..people are paying too much money for old cars nowadays If they are collectable or popular models the willingness to pay top dollar for them have made them totally unaffordable to have…It’s a better deal to but late models instead of obsolete or antiques. And they are many just not worth the money they are commanding!

It’s an F-250 Highboy. They have had a cult following for quite awhile.

Cool looking ole truck but a lot more rust than he admits on the ad. Cab corners, outriggers under the cab, inner fenders… I bet the front cab mounts are rusted as well but you can’t see them in the photo’s. Grille is from a 1972.

Decent old truck but not something I would sign up for at the current bid price!

Worth 3K max. Needs 15K to get up to haggerty standards then it would only be worth 18-23 K
