The C/K Series of GM pickups debuted in 1960 with versions of both offered by Chevrolet and GMC. The “C” designation simply meant 2-wheel drive while “K” stood for 4-wheel drive. Across four generations, these popular trucks were available through 2002 and competed with the Ford F-Series and Dodge D-Series (later Ram). The seller’s 1964 edition of the C-10 is a half-ton pickup with a short bed on the back. We’re told it last ran about 10 years when it was parked in this barn. Thanks for the tip, Matt H.!
C/K trucks were different from their predecessors as they were based on a truck platform for the first time. Also, the trucks started to become less pedestrian with some creature comforts added that were previously available only in GM cars. Upgrades in 1964 included the addition of an A-pillar to the truck’s cab. Otherwise, pickups like this one saw few changes between 1960 and 1964.
We’re told this ‘64 C-10 originated in Idaho and has little to no rust from sitting in the barn for a decade. If it had a V8 engine to begin with, a later 350 cubic inch powerplant is under the hood now, paired with a “truck” 4-speed manual transmission. The pickup comes with a set of Rally wheels that have a 6-lug pattern, which we assume is the same pattern this pickup was built with. The tires have loads of tread left but are ancient.
No mention is made if any woodland creatures violated this Chevy during its hibernation in dirt-floor storage. The copper paint has probably run its course, but the interior may be okay. Located in Sandy, Oregon, this vintage transport is available here on craigslist for $7,500. Wonder what it will take besides a flush of the fuel system and a tune-up to get the machine to fire up?
Looks like a fun rig to get back on the road I sure hope that plug that appears missing on the valve cover didn’t leave the engine exposed to the critters
Perfect candidate for a revival episode of Junkyard Digs on YouTube.
Lousy presentation of what might be a good truck. Too lazy to get it out and take good pictures kills any enthusiasm to buy it in my book. These are great trucks.
I’m sure some people see this as a barn find and want to show everyone the photos of it as it sat in a barn. But sometimes I see these photos and say to myself, geez, that car sat for so many years in those poor conditions that it surely must be full of rust and mold, so I think I will pass. So I have to wonder if negative aspects of a car sitting in the barn outweigh any positive aspects.
I agree with the last two posts, It’s nice to see how a vehicle was found, it provides insight, but also for the bigger dollars it’s nice to pull it out and get better pics as well
You have to put a lot of time an money ileven if youm ay get burnt out an give up a lose lots of money then you say why did I not buy one ready todrive. As things I want to d.. before you one of these so called barn finds be sure your up for it…
Posting deleted so it’s leaving the barn. And that’s good.
Once again, some goofball felt compelled to “hot rod” the truck by putting some dumb looking steering wheel on it. First thing I’d so is fix the cracks in the OEM unit and get it on there ASAP.
Second item would be a velour seat cover delete!
Absolutely, first things would be to de-goober it by tossing that wheel and ripping out that velour. After that would come all the real work.
Sweet little trucks, I had same year shortie with a 283 “tree” speed long, long ago, my best girl riding right next to me on that long bench.
Well we had one growing up,good chance they changed the steering wheel because there’s no room in those things, small cab other than that it was always dependable
A good year C10 for my age, but not for younger guys wanting a 1980s version. It does has a 350 and what looks like an AC compressor so definitely, has been updated. Pretty lazy that the seller didn’t even take the time to remove the tarp to take better pictures. So it’s a hard pass for me.
Change brake system and fuel system and engine, pressure wash 🧼 whole truck from top to bottom , and whatever else and drive it lol wish it was the longer bed version but it’s OK 👍
Is it a big window or small window? That makes a lot of difference in the price.
I had a ’63 1/2 ton with a 6-cyl and HD 4-speed. These were such good, solid trucks. I wish I had never sold it. If I was looking for a project, this one would be on my radar.
