The Ford Mustang SVT Cobra remains one of the more attractive modern muscle cars that hasn’t become unobtainable, even with just over 6,000 original miles like this 2003 example. The SVT enhancements take an already respectable performer in GT guise and boost performance handily, with the added bonus of exclusivity that comes with the limited number of SVT models produced. This example is currently bid to just over $35,000 with the reserve unmet, so the seller likely knows there’s more room on the price in a survivor like this one – especially as a desirable 1-of-1,000 10th Anniversary model. Find it here on eBay and located in West Virginia.
The 10th Anniversary models represented a set of cosmetic upgrades to commemorate 10 years of the SVT Cobra. The 1993 models kicked off the production of this celebrated model, and the serious boost in performance it offered. While my personal preference would be to find a clean Fox body Saleen, there’s no denying the SVT models have a stronger following thanks to its factory-warranted performance upgrades. This generation of the SVT produced similar horsepower and torque numbers, clocking in at a robust 390, and left the factory with an Eaton supercharger. Brembo brakes, a limited slip, and a six-speed manual rounded out the list of enhancements.
The 10th Anniversary models offered Cobra buyers unique “dark argent” wheels, two-tone black and red interior, red-painted brake calipers, carbon fiber-look trim, and unique badges. While these are purely cosmetic in nature, and most of us would prefer a special edition that had actual horsepower enhancements, you have to appreciate the fact that Ford rarely made a limited edition SVT model past the standard production run. For the Mustang collector, this is a special car that offers both prodigious performance and exclusivity, the ideal combination for any collector car – and it looks to be in mint condition inside and out.
This generation of the Cobra was particularly intimidating, with its gaping front air dam and blacked-out headlight surrounds. The bodywork is flawless and the seller reports no accidents. Undercarriage photos reveal a car that looks showroom new, and the driver’s seat doesn’t even show any wear of any significance. Really, if you wanted a chance to buy a new 10th Anniversary model SVT, this is probably one of the best opportunities we’ll see in some time. Then again, given how many SVTs came out of the woodwork in the last few years, you never know if another one will come up for grabs shortly – especially if this one doesn’t meet reserve.
What kind of warranty do you get if you pay over the current bid of $35K ?
Nice car. These later Cobras do have a following. The 10th Anniversary models are a bit flashier, especially the two-tone interior. But I kind of like the look. On this one, I’m not too sure about the modifications. If I was in the market for a low-mileage example, I’m pretty sure I would focus on something stock.
Weren’t these like $40k new? Hope he really enjoyed those couple of hundred miles a year.
Beautiful car. I own the convertible version in the same color combo. These cars are an absolute blast to drive and sound great! Factory shifter is a little sloppy but was a simple fix with a replacement Steeda. Where are the 10th Anniversary specific wheels? Hard to come by and wicked expensive to replace if you can actually find an original set and not repros. Don’t like the fact that the S/C pulley has been changed. Why do that and yet leave the stock air intake? Definite keeper and hard to find one today in this condition that hasn’t been abused. Gas her up and start driving!
Great car if you want to put it in your collection and look at it instead of enjoying it.
It’s at 35K now with 2 days left. For that money, you can get a 2021 GT with more HP (460), and be able to enjoy it without any guilt.
