It is hard to imagine that the sun can do much more damage than this to a car. This 1970 Pontiac Firebird is located in Tucson, Arizona. While the ad states that the car has been in storage, at some point, this car was left outside which is evident in the damage done to the soft parts (bumpers, interior, etc.). The seller has the car listed here on Craigslist. Tony Primo scored another great find and sent this ad to us. The listing price is $10,500.
The black interior is toast. Check out the dash. I have seen a lot of cracked dashes on second-generation Firebirds but this one is almost melted. In 1970, Pontiac built all Firebirds with low-back bucket seats and headrests. In the following year, Firebirds were equipped with high-back bucket seats. Pontiac offered the Firebird in a base model, Esprit, Formula or Trans Am model. Out of 48,739 Firebirds produced in 1970, Pontiac built 18,874 base Firebirds, 18,961 Esprits, 7,708 Formulas, and 3,196 Trans Am models.
The base engine in the Firebird was the Chevrolet L22 inline 6-cylinder engine. This car is equipped with a Pontiac L30 350 cubic inch V8 engine rated at 255 horsepower and equipped with a 2-barrel carburetor. It was available with a three-speed or 4-speed manual transmission along with a 2-speed or 3-speed automatic transmission. Axle ratios for the L30 350 cubic inch V8 engine include the 2.73:1 or 3.36:1 ratio. This engine is not running and looks like it has not been serviced in a while.
The car is painted in Code 75 Cardinal Red. It has power steering and power brakes but no air conditioning. The seller reports that the odometer shows 63,546 miles. The car rides on BF Goodrich Radial TA tires mounted on Rally II rims. The vinyl roof appears to be damaged and the whole car needs a full restoration.
Well, before you do anything else, you would want to put an LS in it. Everyone knows that
If everyone felt that way there’d be no LS engines available. I’m part of that group of nobodies that would keep it Pontiac powered.
I thought that the “everyone knows that” was an obvious signal that I was being facetious, but I stand corrected
Bruce, I see you mentioned the dash. I have never seen a dash like that. Wow!!
Even the 4 wheel center caps lost their color.
If the steering wheel is original, pontiac had 1 heck of a durable one back then – compared to GM’s smooth “slippery” plastic ones of the late 60s that would turn color & crack like crazy.
Ruuuffff!!
Wow, at least one the setbacks seemed OK. Bring your wallet and credit cards and, and and.
Damn spell check. seat backs.
Sun scorched or forest fire?
I hate selling my cars or anything for that matter !
Too much haggling and messages , people don’t show up
Its a royal pain so i make sure my price is to sell , heck renting appartements now is also a royal pain ..
