Super Coupe: 1946 Ford Super 8 Project

1946 Ford Super 8

The sad story accompanying this car is fairly typical; car gets rescued from barn and made to run, first rescuer has to sell, second rescuer does even more work but grandson isn’t interested in old cars, so it’s for sale again. This beautifully original old Ford is for sale in Columbia, South Carolina and listed here on eBay with a buy-it-now of $5,250 or best offer. Between the two rescuers, a lot has been done, including new brakes, fuel system cleaned up, radiator checked & cleaned, new belts & hoses, electronic ignition, tuneup, battery, starter, and carburetor! The seller states that some wiring issues remain to make it roadworthy, although it is said to run and drive well. It certainly looks straight and complete in the pictures. I’d be willing to deal with the wiring issues and drive it as-is for the moment. I wonder if the grandson will regret not being interested someday. Maybe the sad story will have a happy ending for a Barn Finds reader?

And it’s sold already. Not surprising – that’s a steal of a price for that car.

Seems like a nice car for a fair price. The sad story is the grief Ebay is putting the seller through. Ebay really needs to change their policies back to give the sellers more power. Right now if a deadbeat buyer doesn’t follow through on the sale, it’s boo-hoo poor seller, give us more $$ and you can relist it again. Grr…

What a buy for a coupe…I would have done it in a heartbeat. Put in an Olds powertrain, clean it up and leave the patina…yesss
