Twilight Blue is a great color for this 1969 Buick Skylark Custom four-door sedan, it’s positively regal (cough). It’s not a coveted two-door hardtop, convertible, or even a four-door hardtop sedan, but the regular (post) four-door sedan was what I remember the most as a kid. The seller has this three-owner survivor listed here on eBay in Sautee Nacoochee, Georgia, and they’re asking $6,000 or best offer.
Sadly, the seller only included two exterior photos, but we get to see both sides, and it looks fantastic to me. They mention that there are a few dings and dents, but I don’t see anything that raises the hairs on the back of my neck. They also say there’s minimal rust, and there’s some surface rust at the base of the white vinyl top, but it doesn’t look bad at all. I bet the paint could be brought back to life with a good cut-and-buff.
We don’t get to see the driver’s view of the dash for some reason, I hope all is well with the steering wheel, gauges, dash, etc. They do show the passenger side of the dash and a few detailed photos, including a door panel that looks great other than the armrest. The original “Kilmer Cloth and Vinyl” seats look good for being original, and SMS Auto Fabrics shows it on their website, but I’m not sure if it’s available or not.
If new seat fabric is out there, I’d redo the seats – although the back seat looks perfect in the photo above – get new carpet, and sort out everything else inside. Maybe “paint” the interior plastics like the faded armrests and b-pillar panels and those things. Buick made the third-generation Skylark from 1968 through 1972, and they were Buick’s version of the Chevelle, Cutlass, or LeMans.
The engine is a Buick 350-cu.in. OHV V8, which with the four-barrel carb, would have been factory-rated at 280 horsepower and 375 lb-ft of torque when new. It’s backed by an automatic transmission sending power to the rear wheels. The seller says it runs and drives great and has a new gas tank, fuel pump, water pump, shocks, tires, brakes, and more. The AC belt isn’t connected, and there’s a slight transmission leak and coolant leak, so that’s first on the list. Any thoughts on this Skylark? How much is it worth?
Wow, its late 60’s GM Intermediates week here on Barnfinds. It’s nice to see a solid preserved Buick Skylark sedan here. So many must’ve been cut up and parted out for their more popular GS or Skylark convertible and 2 door hardtops. If the body’s straight and rust free ( which it appears to be) it would be nice to see the interior dine and possibly a paint job, or just leave it and enjoy it as is. Like Scotty said, these 4 door sedans ( pillars) were really the most popular models and now you just don’t see many of them. Great find Scotty!!!
The Australian muscle cars were just as cool as the American ones, but the Australians weren’t afraid of making 4-door muscle cars.
I think this Skylark would be very cool redone as a full-on muscle car.
More that 2 dr coupes/ hardtops were never all that popular here. And most of the 4 door thing is related to the over rated and over priced GTHOs
I don’t see any seams on the roof, and it has a bit of a shine. Perhaps it’s two-tone paint?
Definitely paint – good catch!
Thanks for catching that, CCF!
Lots of them came with painted roofs…preferred over vinyl this many decades later. My family had two of them. Gramps owned a 1969 sedan in pale green with white painted roof and I had a 1967 hardtop with white painted roof.
I must have ESPN or I’ve seen this car before
I don’t think it was shown here before, Ken.

Hey Scotty, if you’re living here in Mn., you’d be getting out your shovel or snowblower. 55 yesterday & big snow & wind tomorrow ( maybe).
OK, I’ll be the first to say please lose the raised white letter tires! Nooo! Whitewalls with those wheel covers.
Pretty rough but lots of hope for this car, just fix the leaks or leave them if not too bad. Fix the a/c, which seems to be a standard requirement at BF. And, as Scotty says, polish it up or redo. Refresh the interior too.
I found it humorous that the trunk mat is gone, but, by golly, the spare tire cover is still there!.
Jon, I’m so with you on getting whitetails back on this car. Maybe I’m too much the purist, but an intermediate sedan with raised white letters…WHY!!!!
John and Jon, I agree about the white-letter tires! I can’t find them for my little Dodge D-50 truck anymore, but they show up here.
Compared to the 2 door, these 4 door Skylarks are as rare as hen’s teeth.
I’m always a fan of drive and enjoy. Fix what needs fixing and rack up the miles and the smiles. I’m waiting for the blizzard conditions to arrive here anytime 3″-6″ of snow and 50mph wind gusts
Yeah, we were going to do all day tomorrow at the hockey tournament in St. Paul, but we’ll go Friday instead.
They’re on TV anyway.
Fire up the blower, Ron!
Auction update: this one didn’t sell at $6,000, soooo, it’s been relisted at $6,000.
