It may not be the most exciting car, but this is one clean Volvo. It should look good considering this 1969 Volvo 142s only has 32k miles! Listed here on eBay with six days left and bidding only at $3,650. This car should be a bargain as long as the reserve is set at a realistic level.
In 1969 Volvo upgraded from the B18 to the B20 engine so this car has a little more power than previous years. This year they also switched from a generator to an alternator. The only downside with this car is that it is equipped with an automatic transmission. The seller counts this as a benefit since there were fewer cars made with automatics, but we would still prefer shifting through the gears. We are sure it is still fun to drive though and the auto may make long distance trips easier.
The color combo on this car is one of our favorites. The grey exterior and red cloth seats look great together. We would want to verify that the paint is original. We assume it is considering the low mileage. This thing looks like a new car and we would want to keep everything original. This does have an upgraded stereo which is nice to have, but we would be tempted to source a factory unit to get everything back to stock.
These Volvos are rear wheel drive bricks that are very reliable and easy to work on. We hope that the next owner will take good care of this excellent example of Swedish engineering.
My dad drove a 69 142 the Whole time I was raised as a daily driver till about 6 years ago when he bought my 740. I gave the car away, it had a 4 speed with overdrive and an RTD engine, was all original including the faded paint.
OMG I had this exact car in the late 70’s early 80’s except mine was a 4 speed manual. Same color, same red interior and it looks like it has the same impossible to keep sycronized Stromberg carbs. Loved it then, love it now, wish I still had it.
those aren’t the Stromberg’s (which should be on this car), those are the SU HS6’s, which are a much better and easier to tune carb.

Bill, you’re right. The Stromberg’s had the shorter top. It’s been thirty years so, I’d forgotten what they looked like. Still miss this car, but love the C30 I have now more!
