Affordable Project: 1946 Ford Tudor Sedan

Fairly complete and unrestored projects pop up from time to time, but it is always sweet when it’s a nice car for a reasonable price. This ’46 Ford model 69A seems like a great project that could almost be revived with some fresh fluids and tinkering. Considered a 40 year old barn find, the seller seems interested to unload this Ford quick for the asking price of $4,000 or best offer. Take a look at it here on craigslist out of San Antonio, Texas. Thanks to Tristan C for this sweet Ford submission! (more…)

  • Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes? 1940 Ford Coupe

Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes? 1940 Ford Coupe

George Jones sang a great country song called “Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes?”  It was about who was going to replace the legends of country music when they passed.  As we can now see, it was a good question considering country music now is pretty much what used to be called light rock.  In the automotive world, we should be asking the same question.  Who is going to step up to restore, hot rod, or even serve as caretaker for cars of the past?  Take for example this 1940 Ford Coupe for sale on Craigslist and located in Chula Vista, California.  Between being priced at $8500, and being in the condition that it is in, who is going to step up to save a rough, but beautiful, car like this?  Maybe we can convince Larry S., who found this car for us, to adopt it…

Little Big Man: 1952 Crosley Hot Shot

Its a shame that more American enthusiasts don’t know the story of the Crosley Hot Shot.  Born from the parts and pieces of one of the smallest cars ever made in America, the Hot Shot was arguably our first real sports car.  While production ended in 1952, you have to wonder where American sports cars would be today if these little cars benefitted from a continued evolution like we have seen with the Corvette.  While I doubt it would have ever been on equal footing with the Corvette, I think that British roadsters such as the Austin Healey Sprite and the Triumph Spitfire might have had an uphill struggle building market share against an evolved Hot Shot.  A Crosley Hot Shot won the Index of Performance at the first Sebring race, so they already had a good racing pedigree!   This Crosley Hot Shot, which is for some reason advertised as a 1947 model, is for sale on Ebay with a buy it now price of $4500.  The owner is also taking offers, just in case you want to travel to Utica, Ohio to purchase this petite milestone car for your collection.
