The Real Deal? 1992 Ford F-150 Nite Edition

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

It’s hard to tell if this 1992 Ford F-150 Nite Edition is real or not. It’s almost too good to be true, you can spend more getting head gaskets changed or a transmission rebuild than the seller is asking for this almost perfect-looking special edition pickup. This example is listed here on craigslist in Bonney Lake, Washington and they’re asking $5,900. Here is the original listing.

Here’s the only indication that something isn’t perfect on this truck, that missing section of blue graphic/decal behind the driver’s door on the SuperCab portion. Ford offered this special edition graphics package in 1991 and 1992 only and they’re rare to find today. In 1991, buyers got one choice, a regular Ford F-150 cab. In 1992, you could get this on a regular cab, a SuperCab as seen here, a FlareSide (stepside), and even on the full-sized Bronco, and all in either 2WD or 4WD.

As I’ve mentioned many times, not that I expect anyone to remember anything I say, but I’m a huge fan of graphics packages. Sure, we all like more power and other features that don’t involve stripes and bold graphics, but there’s something about a vehicle with tasteful graphics that appeals to me. This truck looks basically like new and the seller mentions having spent over $15,000 on it and it works like a charm, but they’re only asking $5,900? We’ve only seen one here on Barn Finds over the years and that one was missing the graphics and the dash badge.

The Nite floor mats appear to be missing but the Nite badge on the right side of the dash is there. That’s available from Phoenix Graphics, as are the stripes in either blue or pink. Is this a tribute to the Nite Edition or the real thing, and why is it so cheap? Being a SuperCab, there’s seating behind the front seat and both of them look perfect. Three interior colors were available, Scarlet Red, Crystal Blue, or Dark Charcoal as seen here. The Nite Edition also had a sport suspension and the wheels seen here – but not that steering wheel cover.

The engine has some non-factory bits as you can see. A 351 would have been optional but the seller says it’s a 302-cu.in. OHV V8 and it’s been balanced and blueprinted, and the transmission was also rebuilt. We don’t know the horsepower but it would have had around 185 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. Any thoughts on this Nite Edition?

    Good job Scotty.

I’ve always liked Flareside Ford pickups. But coupled with a SuperCab, that definitely gives them a different look. Specific to the Nite package, I do remember it. For being a very simple package, it looked good.

This appears to be a nice example. I too wonder about the legitimacy of the ad. But for those of us who are just “tire kickers” (which describes me and most of us Barn Finders), we don’t have to worry about that and can just enjoy and discuss the vehicle.

I remember when these were new at Freeway Ford in the MSP area. All I ever saw were black with gray. They were parked in a long row under the floodlights back when people looked at but didn’t touch things that didn’t belong to them. Back when car lots didn’t need fencing and security, you could walk up and read the window stickers at night to avoid the salesmen.

As a kid just out of high school, even an employee discount couldn’t put them within reach. 32 years later, there’s no room at my house for one. Price seems low and Phoenix Graphix is local. Bummer.

I thought they were only short cab short bed trucks…. This reminds me of the early 2000’s Dodge Rumble Bee trucks, there are alot of those cloned too, now that used full interiors with number plates can be bought off of real bees in junkyards.

At the end of the day even if this is a clone and not the real deal Nite edition, the price is fair for a nice truck of this era. Looks like a nice truck just needing a new home. GLWS.

I’ve got zero knowledge about the truck packages or graphics involved. That said, if the ad is legit, this looks like a nice truck for the money. Truck prices have gone crazy and it’s rare to see anything for less than 10k.

      It’s $15,900. You’re missing a 1. Truck is about 2 miles from my house.

I’m guessing not original drive train as he says blue print 302 I’m guessing blue print engines which is a good company but hurts the value here

Very nice survivor! I came very close to buying one new in 92, when Ford offered it in a Reg Cab, but the dealer I was working with couldn’t find one, especially with a 351/5speed manual. I ended up buying a 93 Chevy C1500, with the Silverado Package Sport 350 Chrome. In met silver and grey interior with captains high back buckets and console. With a 350/TBI, 5 speed manual running 3:73, G80 rear. That had all the chrome plus slotted wheels just like the 454SS, 15×10”, with handling package.

Something is fishy to me they claim to have spent over $15,000 on this thing and they are selling it for $6,000 trucks like this with the stated 18k mileage sell for $20k plus on Bring a trailer

No mention of a salvage title but I would check into that. A CarFax or similar report is also needed because this thing seems too good to be true. Nice looking truck though.

I wouldn’t trust a Carfax report as far as I could throw it.I bought a car with a Carfax report several years ago. Ther Carfax said it had been gone through by the dealership and everythiung that needed repair was done. After I got the car and there was a blown head gasket, a bad radiator, numerous electronic gremlins, and no hvac, I called the dealership, After they ran the VIN they said the car had never been in for service, ever.

Looks great on the outside but rather ordinary inside. But the engine looks great, looks like what might be some serious horsepower versus what it came with. One downside because of that makes it for sale only in the handful of states with no inspection or smog check programs, which i happen to live in one of those states with neither.might play one part as to why the price is that low,not a 50 state legal vehicle.

I have a 95 Black flare-side extended cab like this one–and I love it. Price seems ridiculously low for this package.

Well, the listing has finally been deleted, could this have been real after all? That’s zero money for a truck that nice looking.
