Toy Box Find: Rare Star Wars Action Figure

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

Star Wars fans will appreciate this one! In honor of May the 4th, we would like to present this rare toy box find. Before you scoff at the fact that we just featured a toy, take a look at how high this little piece of plastic has been bid up to here on eBay. You’ll be shocked!

This obviously isn’t just any old action figure. This is a Mexican market Lili Ledy Jawa that’s still in its original packaging. Why would someone pay more for Spanish writing on the packaging? Well, it’s a variant of a popular toy that is harder to find and more unique. That kind of sounds like some of the muscle car option packages we all seek after. Doesn’t it?

It may be hard to admit, but us car guys may have a few things in common with toy collectors. Heck, it’s probably safe to assume that the majority of you have a Hot Wheels or two stashed away somewhere. Maybe there’s even a rare Star Wars action figure in one of those old boxes out in the shed? They are still out there…

May the force.. 4th be with you!

May the force (4th) be with you. It’s not just that it’s a Jawa. It’s a rare Mexican market variant. Kind of like a Mexican market Mustang or 3-door B100.

Did you ever wonder about the air inside those packages? I mean, think about it. When the toy was sealed into its container, a small amount of air was included, with everything that was in the air. The toy in its package was loaded into a cardboard box–more air–which aren’t the most airtight vessels ever. But the boxes are loaded into a container at the Chinese factory and sealed shut.

That container then arrives in Los Angeles or wherever and is opened in the US, one load of Chinese air. Then the cardboard box, with some of its Chinese air still inside, is opened at WalMart. And some kid finally opens the package to release that Chinese air in his living room at Christmas.

And if this package, assuming its back is not air permeable and if there had been no puncture in the plastic cover, that air inside would have been a sample of Chinese air circa 1980s.

It’s sort of like opening a tomb from ancient Egypt, with the air inside going back to King Tut.

OK, I’ll go back to whatever it is I should be doing.

Took a date to the opening weekend for the first movie in 1977. She complained all the way through it. Didn’t take her out again.

(chucklng to myself) Well, it IS safe to assume, I at least have a couple (read hundred) of Hot Wheels stashed away along with Matchbox, Husk, Corgi Jr, and a few hundred dealer promos. While I’ve had a few classic cars, the smaller ones are easier to care for and a few hundred can be housed/displayed with relative ease.

Mr Mortensen, is there something wrong with your site? Many postings seem to come up missing.

When my younger sister got married in 1990, her husband was a big Hot Wheels collector. She happened to mention that I have a box of them and that he wanted to look through them. He tried like crazy to buy my Funny Money with push bar and a car called Tri-Baby. I had no interest in selling. They divorced in 1997. I don’t know whatever became of him. My Hot Wheels are still in the same box as they were in 1990. Yeah, car guys have Hot Wheels!
