Triple Black! 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

By the time the 1969 model came around, the Chevrolet Corvette was already a year into its third generation, and it was a pretty hot commodity for the sports car market with over 38,000 units rolling off the assembly line.  New for 1969 was the ignition key mounted on the steering column, and the Stingray badges on the front fenders.  The seller of this 1969 Chevrolet Corvette has owned it for about 7 years and calls it the classic 10-foot car, describing its appearance as great-looking from a distance, but showing blemishes the closer you get to it.  The car is complete and the owner thinks it would be a good entry-level ‘Vette for someone looking to get into the hobby or a fabulous candidate for a resto-mod project.  If you find either of these scenarios alluring, this 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray might be worth a look.  Located in Morgantown, West Virginia, it can be seen here on eBay with a current bid of $18,700.

Probably the first thing that needs to be addressed is that big block hood with the 454 emblems on it- don’t let that fool ya, as this is not an original big block car.  The current owner purchased this hood not too long ago, which is black but fades to deep purple, and installed it on the Corvette a couple of years back.  He had intended to paint the entire car, but those good intentions never materialized.  Some work is going to be needed on the front passenger-side clip if the next owner decides to paint the Corvette, but the seller says it’s a fun car to just drive around on the weekends as it is now, so if you’re digging the present patina that can all wait until a later time.  The car also comes with the original hood that was removed, plus an unpainted aftermarket L88 hood, so the buyer gets two additional extra hoods.

Lots of new interior trim parts are found inside, including the dash, carpet, and console but the car does not have a radio.  The seller also installed a new wiring harness inside while replacing the dash, so the interior electrical is all new.  There’s a new clock and all the gauges work, and the glass is said to be in good shape all the way around.  The Corvette has a soft top with a clear plastic rear window, plus a black hardtop that the current owner purchased a few years ago that is said to be in exceptionally nice shape, although it’s blue inside so he suggests that it can be dyed or painted black to match the rest of the car.

The seller says the Corvette has a replacement Chevrolet 350 crate engine, one of the ZZ motors, but then goes on to say he is not entirely certain.  The battery is newer, as are the tires and brakes, plus there’s also a new heater core.  Underneath there are lots of new front and rear suspension parts, including new rubber and leaf spring.  This Corvette is a no-reserve auction, so the high bidder gets it.  What are your thoughts on this 1969 Corvette Stingray?

no mention or pics of the frame and rear suspension condition. that would keep me from bidding more than is now because I would have to expect the worst.

69 C3… just the best overall year for a C3.. As the old saying goes in the Car Hobby world.. buy the best car you can afford.. ad seems really honest and transparent but with old Vettes you wanna have one with a nice bird cage.. and rust free frame..and remember not every body shop wants to restore fiberglass cars.. they are dirty and toxic.. buy this one for 20k.. easily dump another 30k into it and in three to five years you might have a nice car..

    SOLD for 23,950.
Paid too much, IMO, but EVERYTHING is overpriced these days.
