Triple Project Deal: 3 Sunbeam Alpines/Tiger Builds

If you’ve ever thought about building a Sunbeam Tiger, or at least something inspired by one, this craigslist listing out of Qualicum Beach might be the kind of bundle that gets your attention. Instead of one project, you’re getting three Sunbeam Alpine-based cars for $4,500, along with a Ford 302 V8. The seller is clear about one thing right up front: it’s a package deal only, no parting anything out. Thanks for the tip, Curvette!

The listing describes three separate cars, each at a different stage. One is in primer and has already been modified with an altered firewall and transmission tunnel, along with rack-and-pinion steering. According to the seller, those changes were done to accommodate a V8, which lines up with the included 302. They also refer to it as an “Alger / Tiger project,” suggesting it’s intended to replicate the V8-powered Tiger setup rather than being an original.

The second car is described as white and “mostly complete,” though the seller also notes that it’s rusty. That’s about all the detail provided, so it’s one of those cases where you’d likely want to look closely or ask questions if you’re considering it as a restoration candidate or parts source.

The third Alpine is listed as burgundy with a “decent body,” but no drivetrain or “guts.” Again, the description is pretty minimal, but it gives a general idea of what you’re working with—essentially a shell that could go a few different directions depending on your plans.

What makes this listing interesting is the combination. You’ve got one car already set up for a V8 conversion, another that’s mostly complete but rusty, and a third that’s more of a blank slate. Add in the included 302 engine, and it starts to feel like the seller is offering everything needed to build one complete car, maybe two depending on how creative someone wants to get.

The seller also mentions being open to trades for a commuter car or SUV, which might appeal to someone looking to swap projects rather than add another one. But they’re firm on not splitting anything up, so it’s all or nothing.

For enthusiasts, this kind of package can go either way. It could be a great opportunity to build a Tiger-style car with extra parts on hand, or it could turn into a bigger project than expected depending on how things shake out once you dig in. The listing keeps things simple, which means there’s plenty left for a potential buyer to sort through.

So if you had all three sitting in your garage, would you focus on building one solid V8 Alpine, or try to bring more than one back to life?

Fix the best of the bunch, cut the second one at the firewall and mount it on a shortened truck chassis making it into a trailer, and convert the other bits and pieces into a refrigerator.

Just because i’m old here. When Maxwell Smart retired he left em at the Control garage where they were found. ;). I wonder if the ejector seat still works

If they are all Alpines, they should be restored as Alpines… not a counterfeit Tiger.
