Thanks to Barn Finds reader CJS for this great find! Advertised for only $650 here on craigslist in Wildomar, California, this little four-seat 1964 Triumph Herald 1200 is ripe for restoration. We’ve featured Heralds before and thought you folks might want a chance at this one.

It looks like the driver’s door may have come from another Herald, and as you can see it needs a top, along with many other items, although there is supposedly a lot of trim included with the car. As the seller states, there’s no title, but they will provide a bill of sale.

You can see a little corrosion in this shot in the rear fenders; it’s a typical spot for Heralds to rust (ours has some rust in exactly the same place). The hole in the fender is for the gas filler neck and cap, and those are the original wheel covers.

h2

Here’s a closeup of the rust. The good thing about any damage to the rocker panels on a Herald is that they are non-structural and are held on by sheet metal screws. Unfortunately, that isn’t true for the fenders.

h3

I’m surprised to see the floors as solid as they appear. The dash top is actually pressboard (think coated cardboard) and would have to be replaced or reconstructed from something else. It looks like the original engine and transmission are in place, and the seller tells us it spins freely. If the parts missing in the pictures are included with the car this is a great buy. Pretty rough but you have to give the seller credit for being realistic price wise.

What a great entry-level red convertible. Wildomar is a tiny town with a nice, dry climate in the southern inland area of California, just a tad northeast of San Diego. The 1962 Comet came with wheel covers nearly identical to these.

Hey Guys, I went to see this tonight since it was only 15 minutes away. There is a reason it is still on Craigslist. Missing a few parts including windshield and trans tunnel. If anyone wants a better description let me know.
