T.J. found this pristine survivor 1967 International Harvester Scout 800 located for sale in Hoquiam, Washington. The seller has the International Harvester Scout 800 listed for only $8,900 and it has been posted for 3 days. The Scout 800 is said to be unrestored and in original condition and the pictures sure look like it. It is listed here on Craigslist. The 57 year old Scout is said to be a dependable driver and have very little rust. The seller has a detailed description of this Scout 800 and is transparent about its positives and limitations.
The beige interior of this Scout 800 looks original and functional. The first Scout offered by International Harvester was called a Scout 80 and produced from 1960 to 1965. The second generation of Scout was called the Scout 800 which was produced in three sub-models (800, 800A, and 800B). The Scout 800 was produced by International Harvester from 1966 to 1970. From 1966 to 1967, it was called the Scout 800 (this one). Starting in 1968, the Scout 800A was produced from 1968 to 1970. The Scout 800B had a short production run of only a few months from August 1970 to March 1971. It was replaced by the Scout II which had a 10 year production run from 1971 to 1980.
International Harvester manufactured Scouts from 1960 to 1980. Early Scout 80s were equipped with a 152 cubic inch inline four-cylinder engine rated from the factory at 93 gross horsepower. This was also the base engine for the Scout 800 but it could also be ordered with a turbocharger. The data tag shown for this Scout 800 shows that this 4 cylinder was rated at 93 gross horsepower and 86 net horsepower. An optional 196 cubic inch inline 4-cylinder was introduced in 1966. Other optional engines included a 266 cubic inch V8 (1967), a 304 cubic inch V8 engine, and a 345 cubic inch V8 engine (1971) in second and third generation Scouts. Additionally, a Nissan SD33 198 cubic inch diesel inline 6 could be ordered in a Scout II from 1976-1979. The seller states that the little 4 cylinder sounds like a typewriter when it is running.
The only thing that has been changed out on this Scout 800 is the gas tank and radiator. The seller states that there is very little rust accept for the front floor pans. New floor pans come with the sale but have not been installed. Being original, the weatherstripping and most of the seals on this Scout 800 will need to be replaced. It looks like a really good deal at this price point.

Not surprised that the ad has been pulled. It sold fast, or the seller realized he had it underpriced. They don’t come much cleaner than that.
Hope the new owner puts a power steering unit in. Sold mine when my shoulder was replaced as I had a very hard time without power assistance.
It would out-plow a 4 x 4 pickup. Dandy handy truck – always started.

We had a 66 model with Ramsey winch up front and pto shaft at rear bumper…very capable 4 wheel drive…sure footed unless you got high centered. Couldn’t stick it otherwise.
So plain and ordinary looking yet they’re cool. Utilitarian and tough as nails. Perhaps someone got a ‘smokin’ deal if it did indeed sell. Best wishes to current owner.
