The Jaguar Mark II was considered a performance-oriented luxury vehicle in the ’60s. It was capable of a fun driving experience while still being comfortable. Even by today’s standards, these cars are extremely classy. This example is said to have to have 100k miles, though it is possible the odometer is inaccurate. It is listed for sale on Facebook in Athol, Massachusetts for $26,995. Thanks to Bruce M for the tip.
The exterior is finished in a stunning Olde English white. The car is said to have been restored a while ago and may have some more recent stone chips and blemishes. The Jaguar wears coveted wire wheels. A full sunroof is also present. This is the kind of car you might imagine pulling away from a wedding, it has a classy yet fun energy about it.
The interior is finished in a velvety red leather throughout. The dash and steering wheel have wood accents. The interior presents very well and is free of any significant damage. The seller notes the car isn’t “Concours quality” but with a little work, it certainly could be. There’s something extra special about a car finished in white over red, it feels almost decadent.
A 3.8L straight 6-cylinder engine sends power to the wheels via an automatic transmission. The engine appears to be free of any decay or visible damage. It is said to run and drive as it should. This car is perfect for someone who enjoys period-correct vehicles. The Jaguar would make the perfect companion on a first date, to cars and coffee, or just on an evening cruise. It needs nothing but could be gone through to be made absolutely perfect if an enthusiast chooses to do so. Whenever I see one of these Jags, I always think of Inspector Morse. His Jag (1960 Mk2 I believe) was a large part of the show. Kind of like Jim Rockfords Pontiac Firebird, Magnum PIs Ferrari, Kojacks Buick, Starsky and Hutches Striped Tomato ( Oops I mean Ford Torino) etc. Etc. Etc.
These are beautiful inside and out. I’d much rather have a manual trans in it, but other than that it looks beautiful.
My wife and I looked forward to every episode of Inspector Morse! Admittedly, the Jag was always part of the draw.
Agreed … five years ago I bought a 1965 S-Type BECAUSE it is manual and not automatic. The auto removes a lot of the shine from owning one of these wonderful 1960s model Jaguars.
I have always loved these Jags and the the way they drove. My big stipulation is that the automatics don’t interest me. A classic like this should have the third pedal and be driven through the gears! (Once again my opinion only!)
I like it, the white over red is fantastic, and of course a manual would be even better.
A favorite of bank robbers and the cops that chased them in 60’s London..basically a saloon E Type. Just lovely..how tragic to see what Jag has become today..
Once a British company now owned by Indians with the money to purchase it.
