Bloomington Gold Survivor Awards recognize Corvettes that are “worn in, but not worn out.” These are cars that remain essentially original, unmolested, and mechanically sound. Cars are judged against four sets of criteria, and only cars that achieve a score of 80% or more against all four of these criteria will receive a Gold Survivor Certification. This 1964 Corvette is one of those cars, and when you look through the photos that are supplied by the owner, it’s easy to see why this car managed to achieve this status. The owner has decided that the time has come to part with this beautiful Corvette, and that means that there is one lucky person out there who is set to own a well preserved classic. The Corvette is located in Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada, and has been listed for sale here on eBay. Bidding has reached $42,100, but the reserve hasn’t been met. There is also a BIN option available, and this has been set at $56,900.
The Corvette is finished in Ermine White, and as befits a car that has earned Gold Survivor status, its condition is extremely impressive. The owner states that the vehicle has never suffered any accident damage, and there are certainly no signs of any problems when you subject the photos to careful inspection. The paint is consistent and has a nice shine to it, and there are no signs of any issues with dings or cracks to either the paint or the fiberglass. The owner also provides some really clear photos of the Corvette’s underside, and it is as clean and solid as you are ever likely to find. No rust issues here, folks. If the exterior trim and chrome aren’t flawless, then they aren’t far off it, because there are no obvious problems there. The car also features tinted glass, and this appears to be free of any obvious chips, cracks, or other defects.
The Corvette is a numbers-matching car, and although the drivetrain combination might not be the most potent on the planet, it still promises the next owner some pretty comfortable and enjoyable motoring. What we find is the L75 version of the 327ci V8, producing 300hp. This is backed by a 2-speed Powerglide transmission, with the vehicle also featuring power steering and power brakes to take the hard work out of the driving experience. Whilst the car is all original, the 327 was treated to a rebuild at some point in the past. The engine bay presents very nicely, and once again, is well within keeping for a Gold Survivor car. The owner doesn’t indicate how well the Corvette runs or drives, but if appearances count for anything, then it should be pretty good. The car does come with a fairly decent collection of documentation. This includes the Owner’s Manual, the Original Window Sticker, along with the Bloomington Gold documentation.
It’s hard to take a look around inside the Corvette and say anything beyond “wow.” The carpet might, just might, be slightly faded, but beyond that, there is very little that can be faulted. The original owner obviously had an eye aimed towards comfort when they ordered the car because it comes equipped with leather upholstery, air conditioning (that blows ice cold), power windows, and a Delco AM/FM radio. The driver’s seat might be showing a small amount of stretching on the base, but the rest of the trim, along with the dash, is just beautifully preserved. The more that I look at the interior, the more that I feel that slipping behind the wheel on a sunny day would be a very pleasant experience.
Buying a project car that provides you with the opportunity to put your own stamp on it is always a tempting proposition, but sometimes there is a lot to be said for buying a beautifully preserved classic that is ready to be driven and enjoyed. That is what this Corvette appears to represent because it is a car that would seem to need nothing but a new owner who will appreciate it for what it is. I was raised in a Ford household, and the blood flows blue in my veins. However, if I had the opportunity to park this Corvette in my driveway, I wouldn’t be inclined to say no. How about you?
She’s a beauty!
I think somebody is snoozing at the wheel on this one
Nice Vette! Coquitlam is right across the mighty Fraser river from me.
My hat’s off to the prior owner(s) for keeping this car so pristine all these years for future generations to study and enjoy. Beautiful Corvette!
