Barn Finds reader Dustyn clued us into this upcoming estate auction for a gentleman by the name of Zach Meyer. According to Dustyn, Mr. Meyer owned a local restaurant and was quite a hot rod fanatic, hosting an annual car show at his business. Now some of his personal collection is up for grabs, which includes some very nice custom projects and original cars that are ripe for restoration, like the 1931 Chevrolet shown above.
If you view the entire auction listing, you’ll see two other nicely restored muscle cars, like this 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback GT shown above. This car appears to have been extensively renewed, with a fresh interior, bright chrome and a rust-free body. While the listing says it has been completely restored, you’ll want to call the auctioneer for more details.
There are also some other potential projects on the property like the ’31 Chevrolet listed above. This 1957 International S-160 stake bed dump truck looks to have been put out to pasture years ago, but I’m guessing a man like Mr. Meyers probably found himself some decent examples of even humdrum projects like an old work truck. Ensuring the stake bed is in good shape (or replaced) will likely be a top priority for the next owner.
And despite the man’s preference for American muscle, there’s an oddball in the mix: this Gazelle convertible, designed to be a replica of the classic 1929 Mercedes-Benz roadster. I’ve seen these fitted with a 4-cylinder sourced from the Ford Pinto, so considering this a replica of such an impressive car is a serious stretch of the imagination. Still, for short money it could be good for a laugh! Check out the full collection here and let us know what you’d like to take home.
I’d go for the old chevy. And I don’t care AT ALL for the street rods! They’re so overdone that they’re very much done to the personal taste of the seller. I’m sure whoever buys them is going to change them, I know I would… -_-;
Ha, I have one of the Gazelles. Apparently there are several brands that all look very similar. That one does look identical to mine, other than the one I have is powered by a Toyota 20R and 5 speed (which I think is a good thing) rather than the typical pinto or VW powerplant. The cars are light enough that me and a buddy picked up the tail end an inch or so off the ground just to see if we could do it so the little 20R with the dual side draft Mikuni carb setup I have for it should scoot down the road at a pretty scary clip. They are pretty fun to drive, and as far as kit cars go are one of the most common I’ve seen.
Common side effects may include Wanting to Wear a Scarf while driving it, which is a terrible idea with the rear wheels that close to the driver seat.
