Believe it or not, these K Car-based convertibles caused quite a stir when they were introduced for the 1983 model year. For those around back then, we remember that the convertible was dead – Detroit was no longer making drop tops and Chrysler hadn’t produced a convertible since the 1970 model year. I remember seeing the first one of these LeBaron convertibles with the faux-wood trim and thinking, Wha?? Either Lee Iacocca and team were trying to wax nostalgic about Chrysler’s unique Town & Country “Woodies” produced from 1946 – 1950, or someone in the Chrysler Procurement Department goofed and ordered way too much faux wood trim for their Town & Country “Woody” Station Wagons. Whatever the case, only 1,105 of these pricey, luxury drop tops were produced for the 1984 model year, and this one is a stunning survivor in great shape with only 17,500 original miles claimed.

17k Mile 1984 Chrysler LeBaron Town & Country Convertible
Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.
The photos leave a lot to be desired, but you can tell that this 1984 Chrysler LeBaron Town & Country Mark Cross Edition (that’s a mouthful!) has been babied and garage kept. The original black paint is shiny, the faux wood panels look fab, the black convertible top (with a rear window of glass instead of plastic offered in ’84) looks taut, all the trim, glass, and shiny stuff look great, and it’s sporting the special aluminum wheels that came standard on the Mark Cross Edition. It’s a looker.
The luxurious brown-themed Mark Cross leather interior (with a matching convertible top boot) looks to be in great shape for a 41-year-old car. Although it’s advertised as “all original and in perfect condition,” the seller says that the digital dash cluster was replaced from another ’84 Chrysler Lebaron that had 45,000 miles on it. The actual mileage is claimed to be 17,500 and documentation can be shown. These flagship little Chryslers were loaded and came with digital voice commands, automatic transmission with a floor shift console, power steering, power brakes, power windows, power door locks, air conditioning, cruise control, AM/FM/Cassette Radio, and on and on. You won’t be roughing it in this Town & Country Convertible.
These Mark Cross Editions came with a reliable Mitsubishi 2.6-liter inline 4-cylinder power plant that had received an upgrade to 101 horsepower in 1984. The seller claims the LeBaron runs great and has been mainly used for car shows. This little Woody is currently located in Pickerington, Ohio, an is for sale here on eBay for $15,000. That’s at the high end of the sales price history of these limited-production drop tops, but this one looks to be in exceptional condition. Happy bidding!

Came here to say this.
No, John Voight…the periodontist.
Luggage š§³ rack, all the luxury bells and whistles from Chrysler Town & Country pkg. Beautiful.
These were great. I had a later model with turbo. A lot of fun to drive . One of my favorite cars ever.
Every time.
Every time one comes up his name is always mentioned.
Is there a pencil in the glove box with bite marks?
I have a 84 with 26K on it not a woody.

Did this model not come out in MY 1982? I know they were in the brochures that year.
1982 was the first year of the convertible.
Planes,Trains and Automobiles
Looks almost like the one in planes, trains and automobiles. That caught fire and can buff right out after going between 2 semi trucks! Not a chance i’m giving 15K for this! Maybe 7K!
Had an ā84ā which ran fine⦠only problem any time the top was operated down the glass window would shatter.
Plastic timing chain cover and all.
Amazing and beautiful! My, how Chrysler has fallen. They are soon to be extinct. Thanks for NOTHING Stellantis! May you go broke!
I’m pretty much of the opinion that Chrysler doesn’t even exist anymore.
Another one. Call George Costanza again. He can replace the one that burned down (Seinfeld episode “The Hamptons”, aired on May 12, 1994).
Really nice condition but 15k??
Anyone remember the Le Baron from āPlanes Trains and Automobilesā that Steve Martin and John Candy drove between 2 tractor trailers and set fire to?
