1959 Cadillac DeVille Series 62 Survivor

Few cars remain as iconic as the Cadillac DeVille so many years after its introduction, making the current state of affairs at America’s predominant luxury car maker – you know, cranking out sporty crossovers – a damn shame. This 1959 Series 62 coupe is a stunner, said to have been in the care of its last owner for 20 years and found slumbering in a garage. It now resides in what looks like a massive collection, and you’ll find the Cadillac here on eBay with a $42,900 Buy-It-Now.

The fact that this car still presents as well as it does despite not being a museum or more high-end collection is incredible. The previous owner seemingly also oversaw a respray in the original Wood Rose finish, and it still looks outstanding today. The many areas of chrome trim all appear to present nicely, and the iconic tail fins look as good as ever. The seller notes that the Cadillac runs well with just a slight exhaust leak as its biggest flaw at the moment.

The interior features some interesting options, like the manual crank windows paired with power seats and remote mirror. Mileage is believed to be original at just under 50K, and the interior appears to validate that low odometer reading. The interesting combination of black and rose is one you certainly don’t see today, but works well on this gorgeous coupe. Other features include power steering and brakes and an AM radio with power antenna.

The 390 V8 and automatic transmission combination is said to run quite well, aside from the aforementioned exhaust leak coming from the passenger side manifold. The seller notes the white wall tires should also be replaced as they’re not safe for long-distance trips. With just the one repaint and otherwise remaining true to its original form, this Cadillac has clearly led a pampered existence and should continue to be preserved with just minor mechanical updates performed.

My beloved Aunt & Uncle built a home in 1956 and chose a mostly pink-tiled bathroom accentuated with black tile. I’m sure that there were many others in the same color combination. I always liked the two together. I’d recently read that First Lady Mamie Eisenhower chose pink extensively for her fashions and that her color choice drove a lot of demand for all things pink. I really like the looks of this Caddy and hope that it finds a good home!

I remember the gawdawful huge flowers on drapes, usually red on a grey background and a grey wool-rug and pinky-grey living room couch and chairs.
This unhealthy combination inside homes could only be ameliorated by ostentatious cars such as this ’59 Caddy,
I hope the Caddy finds a good home.

Sweet looking land yacht. The driver’s seat looks like it had more than 50k worth of arse time, unless the owner sat in there reminiscing all the time.

….with this car, just hang your head out the window. No one will notice you.

It also has window vent windows on the front of the front-doors.

I always called them „no-drafts“, but there may be a different name for them.

They cooled the head and shoulders, but not much else.

Does the name “Gypsey windows” ring a bell?

        We called them ‘wing windows’.

Would you have expected them to time travel and add it on the option list? It’s an original car seemingly from the north east…

A series 62 is the base model. A de Ville is the next model up.
    Still a beauty.

Like seeing an old friend. My parents
owned one in the mid ’60’s. Ours was
butter yellow with a black and white
interior. Like this csr, ours had crank
windows, a DeLuxe radio, and A/C.
It was a great used car that never
left us stranded. Still recall the way
it would float down the road–no matter
how rough the road was. For many
years, Mom drove nothing but Caddys.
Dad always tjought that a good used Cadillac was better than many new cars
cars being sold at that time. Sure would
like to own one, but can’t afford it now!

You were a lucky Ken! I got to ride in old Fury’s. Take care bud, still working on going to the funeral, Mike.

And what is wrong with Furys, asks the proud owner of a 1963 model?

Hi Miguel,It was an early 70’s car. 4 door, yellow with a black vinyl top. Not what a kid wanted to be seen in back then.

Interesting that the car has an aftermarket electric cooling fan on the radiator. That and the collapsed drivers side on the front seat has be seriously doubting that this car has only done 50K miles or it’s as original as claimed.

    Caveat emptor…

Maybe the owner weighed 300 pounds as the rest of the car looks like a possible 50,000 miler.

Did anyone really weigh three hundred pounds way back then? Nope. Then along came Cheetos, Big Macs and Pepsi on every corner and America became FAT CITY. Vintage photos tell a lot about how people looked in the good ol’ days!

I am not sure about the driver seat showing more miles. The padding in these seats didn’t hold up too well. I have seen very low mile cars, although they were hearses, with seats that were concave.

Good looking Caddy. It’s one that belongs on the highway cruising the day away.

I’d like to correct your statement of it having crank windows matched with power seats.
This beauty has power windows. You can see the buttons through the steering wheel,. They are not part of the door. The crank you see on the door is for the vent window.
As with many of you, my aunt and uncle next door also had a 59 Caddy in blue mist. My aunt would get so mad at me as I was fascinated with the power windows and always played with them.

Well, Jeff, it seems you are correct. I just blew up the photo and the crank for the window is semi hidden behind the steering wheel. I wonder what that chrome is where the the power windows buttons are supposed to be?

I do love these 59s. The nice thing about crank windows is that they do not break as much as power windows. I recently bought one of these that looks as nice as this one with power everything including cruise control for less than half the asking price. So, I either got a good deal, or this one may be overpriced. However, I bet someone will pay close to what they are asking.

A Coupe DeVille would have had power window, the Series 62 is the base model.

Techincally the DeVille is a 62 Series as well. I am not sure if you had to take the power windows with the DeVille when ordered. I think back then you could option the car how you wanted it.

I was going to say awesome car, but it’s not awesome at all. This car is more than beautiful, it is a gorgeous car. I would love the opportunity to own it, but absolutely no spa left. Wishing for spring thaw. It’s coming eventually I am sure, but until then all I can do is look and comment! Have a great day everyone!
