Listed here on eBay and garaged in Keene, New Hampshire with a $82K BIN is this wonderful 1960 Lotus Series One Elite, serial #1111. Approximately 1030 cars were produced from 1956 to 1963. This is a beautiful car that could be vintage raced or converted to a restored streetcar.
This car has been vintage raced for the last 20 years. The owner has retired from racing and it now selling his car.
The Elite is powered by the Coventry Climax 1220 CC Stage 5 race prepared engine by Arjay Racing in Danbury, CT. This car is said to be very competitive and the owner says it “will win it’s class.”
The full dash and generator is included so if you wish to convert to a restored streetcar you can. A phone number is included to contact the owner with any questions you may have.
Cheers,
Robert
It might be something you could put back to a street version, but that Stage 5 engine isn’t going to be something you would want to sit with in traffic on a boiling hot day in the summer. There would be work to put the interior back to a basic level of comfort and a regular gas tank, and so on. And then you would still have a RHD ex-racecar for your $82K.
Might be better to keep it as a race car for vintage racing, maybe market it on the West coast or in the UK. Best of luck to the seller. It looks like a really good build, and it does look good. I hope he finds a buyer.
This car has nothing in common with a barn find.
