One of my all time favorite cars was my MGB GT! I loved the way it looked and drove. I always thought it would make a fun little race car too. My first racing event event was a bust though and I never got another chance. That’s why this project looks so tempting. It already has a roll cage, two race engines, and a ton of extra parts. All this for only $5,000? Sounds like a deal to me! Find it here on craigslist out of Springfield, Illinois.
Here you can see the roll cage, Kirkey seat, and fuel cell. I’d want to double check that the cage complies with my local vintage racing organization’s requirements before buying. I’m sure it does, but it’s always a good idea to know what you are getting into. The seller mentions that the body is rust free and that’s half the battle with an old car like this.
Here’s one of the race engines mentioned. Well, actually it looks like there’s another one sitting back there too. The B Series engine was bulletproof in five main bearing form and I can’t think of a more affordable engine to build for racing. There’s a ton of parts and information out there. It would be nice to know what all has already been done to this one.
I’m seeing a lot of parts that add value here. Even the Minilite (or Minilite look) rims are worth a good chunk of change. Combine it all with a rust free body and I think you have a good deal here. It would be fun to put it all together and try your hand at vintage racing. Too bad this one is so far away from me because if it were, I’d probably be making space in my garage right now!
If the work done is quality work, this is a SCREAMING good deal for someone. Pennies on the dollar.
Your right Jamie, but sadly :( too far away from me as well. When I used his/this link to photobucket: http://s1233.photobucket.com/user/bgyglfr/library/mgb , it showed MUCH more in the goodies dept, the spare engine he’s using as parts, the built trans, etc, ‘n like this Weber set-up as well. Somebody is going to get a great deal on this one.. :)
This would be a cool road car too.
Horse power? Weight?
This is my car. I know some of you guys are really far away but I can arrange delivery for a very reasonable price.
Can you give me an idea of cost to have car/parts delivered to NJ?
Thanks
