1970 Pontiac GTO Convertible: Topless Goat

1970 Pontiac GTO Convertible

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

I know many a car nut that would love to have a 1970 GTO Judge Convertible, but given the limited production numbers, few of us will ever have the chance of owning one of these muscular convertibles. Even regular GTO convertibles fetch serious money these days, but this barn find project could be a good way to get into ’70 GTO ownership without breaking the bank. Well that is if the car isn’t rusty and all the parts are really there, like the seller claims. I would want to take a look at this one in person to see what is going on with the front end and the rest of the body. It’s hard to tell from the photos, but it looks like the paint might even still have shine to it. Perhaps with a good cleaning and some mechanical work, this Goat could be back on the road and looking good without having to spend much more money. You can find this topless GTO here on eBay in Saint Johnsville, New York with bidding currently at $9k. Special thanks to Jim S for this tip!

Of all the muscle cars out there, one of these is at the top of my bucket list. I had a ’70 2 DR hard top. Always wanted a ’70 GTO convertible. Good color combination too.

I think the seller is really promoting the “All you gotta’ do is wash it and drive it.” type advertisement.

These still bring good money when complete but you’re a long way from there.

Unless it were a Judge (and it’s not) I wouldn’t touch it at that price.

“All ya gotta do is rechrome the rear bumper and you have a show car!” …Love the optimism!

I am beginning to think that Pontiac enthusiasts are on par with MOPAR based on what they will pay for non-op vehicles. I have heard the 455 GTO Ram Air is a rare car. I used own one before the whole collector car market took off. It was pretty cool to pull the lever under the dash for the Ram Air effect and of course it had a special air cleaner to direct the air flow into that massive Quadrjet (as I recall) carburetor. I wouldn’t touch any of the GOATS without a PPI though.

I am beginning to think that Pontiac enthusiasts are on par with MOPAR enthusiasts when it comes to what they will pay for non-op vehicles. I used to own a ’70 GTO 455 Ram Air I purchased from the original owner. It was pretty sweet pulling that level under the dash to get the Ram Air effect and of course it had a specially designed air cleaner to direct the flow of air into that massive Quadrajet (as I recall) carburetor. I would not touch either GOAT without a PPI though. I’ll bet the seller got all three vehicles dirt cheap.
