You’re showing too many trucks, SG. Stop it! I hope there aren’t many out there who are getting tired of seeing vintage pickups, that would put a big dent in my current interest area. This 1986 Ford F-250 XL 4×4 is posted here on craigslist in Marysville, Washington, and the seller is asking $8,800. How is this truck still for sale?! Here is the original listing, and thanks to Curvette for the tip!

If you start getting bored with old pickups, I’d have to start showing vintage guitars or pinball games or something. (Insert sound of Jesse deleting my name from the employee list). This Bullnose beauty is Dark Canyon Red (paint code 51), according to the data plate photo the seller included. This truck is said to have had one repaint, according to the seller, who is the original owner’s grandchild. At around half of Hagerty’s $16,900 #3 good-condition value, I don’t have a clue how or why this truck hasn’t been sold yet.

I don’t mind a repaint if it’s a good one and isn’t covering up a bunch of bodywork. The double-pinstripe is a nice touch that often doesn’t come back after a repaint. The seller does say that there were no accidents with this truck, and there is no rust and no dents. The seventh-generation F-Series was made from the fall of 1979 for the 1980 model year until the end of 1986. We don’t get to see inside the bed, but it appears to have a sprayed-in liner of some sort. If the rear bumper were repainted, this truck would look amazing.

Speaking of amazing, here’s the interior, with a perfect-looking cloth and vinyl (LG on the trim tag – L is the seat type and G is the color) seat in Medium Gray that still looks like new. Here is a very cool 1986 Ford Color and Trim brochure to check out. The next owner had better be used to manual windows, even though this is a nice XL trim, power windows and power locks weren’t standard equipment on trucks yet, or even on most cars. Here’s a 1986 F-Series brochure.

I’m guessing that a decent percentage of Barn Finds readers are too young to have ever operated a manual window. That isn’t a bad thing; I’ve never driven a Model T or a Model A. The seat looks perfect, as does everything that I can see, including the great Ford floor shifter connected to a 4-speed manual transmission. Next to it is a 2-speed transfer case shifter. Is that an 8-ball shift knob on the 4-speed?! Cool.

For a craigslist ad, the seller has included some great photos, including two underside photos and three engine photos! H h h h h h h h... (hyperventilating) Nice work, seller! This is Ford’s monster 460-cu.in. OHV V8, which put out 245 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque when new. Backed by a 2-speed transfer case and 4-speed manual sending power to all four wheels as needed, the seller says it has a new carburetor, a new oil pump, a new rear main seal, a new starter, and even a new clutch. For $8,800!? The AC needs to be charged, but for less than $9,000, this truck has to be a steal. Thoughts?

I agree SG, looks like a well-kept truck. It gives off that “no-nonsense” vibe with its 460 4-speed powertrain, single-tone red paint, and gray interior. But interestingly, shades of luxury would have been creeping in by this time… it has cruise control. Has some mechanical updates.

That interior brochure is indeed cool. I guess it took a whole brochure to keep track of the upholstery type and color choices. Times sure have changed.

    Keep the trucks coming!!

Thanks, Bob! I probably shouldn’t like old trucks as much as I do.

I guess the AC compressor is gone?

Jeez, good eye, sir! The seller says it needs to be charged, but that wouldn’t do much if there isn’t even a compressor! Dang, thanks for catching that.

I would be tempted to give up my 73 K10 for this. But the 350 gets WAY better mileage than the 460. This is a great deal tho.
