It’s hard to believe based on the photos, but the seller of this Yugo GV claims there’s just over 1,800 original miles on the clock. The information in the listing is scattered at best, and the current condition of the Yugo does little to convince prospective buyers that the GV indeed wears such low mileage. The seller also seems confused as to the year of the car, so we’ve taken our best guess that this supposed-time capsule here on eBay is a 1986 model.
The GV looks nothing like we’d expect a car with under 2,000 miles to appear. It’s a mess, currently, and the damage to the driver’s side front corner is more than you’d expect for a car that hasn’t moved much. The seller claims he purchased the car as a project and started tackling some basic items, like getting the gas tank cleaned out and adding new tires, but he doesn’t elaborate as to what other work – if any – has been performed.
The interior has been used for storage but also presents the strongest evidence that the mileage claim may be accurate. The headliner is in very nice condition, and doesn’t have the appearance of a panel that’s been absorbing moisture for the last ten years. The only other details of note that the seller provides is that he has a clean title for the Yugo, and that several spares will be included in the sale.
The seats and carpet also look clean enough to belong in a car with historically low mileage, but the exterior condition still leaves more questions about how this Yugo was stored and why it looks worse than other examples with twice the mileage. Fortunately, the seller isn’t asking for a crazy high sale price as the Buy-It-Now is set at $3,500 with the option to submit a best offer. Is it still too much of a gamble to take on?

That may be true, as the “clock” may have broken at 1800 miles. 101,800 miles? It looks like it, I just didn’t think these would go that far. The fact that someone thought this car was worth an Ebay ad, and then to ask this, I’m not sure it would bring that with plastic still on the seats.

The only car I know of that can go from new to broken in to broken in less than 2000 miles!!! I drove wrecker when these were being sold new, and boy did they keep me busy!!!!! Towed the same ones 2-3 times a week. Special deal for warranty service. Split 50/50 with the service rate twice the normal charge. lol 99.00 would be a decent price for this one. Doubt you could get that much for scrap value.
That EBay ad was posted on Oct. 12. Three months without a buyer might be a hint to the seller that the price is too high. By an order of magnitude or so.
Granted I only have one blurry photo to judge by, but does anyone else notice that it appears the passenger side rear door took a hit from a .50 cal. round, about midway up from the bottom?
I believe that’s the fuel filler opening. Cap could be missing. Also there are no rear doors, these were only ever sold in the US as 2 door hatchbacks.
Ah, I see now, thank you. Just looks ridiculously low for a fuel filler. And I didn’t realize I was looking at a coupe.
2 doors were Yugos, 4 doors were known as Wegos.
Used to be the one old joke, a guy walks into an auto parts store and says he wants a gas cap for his Yugo. Guy behind the counter said it sounded like a fair trade.
Just about on par with the Hyundia Pony which were filtering into Canada in the mid 80s.I would not take this car for free even if it was delivered.

That Yugo’s got more miles on it than a gal I once dated–and it’s in better shape!! Her ‘clock’ stopped somewhere too; she claimed to be 42 when she was actually 51! (it pays to snoop in a gal’s wallet while she’s in the lady’s room, guys…)

My thoughts are the same as most people’s here. Looks like that “clock” has rolled over once. But Wow! That would be quite an accomplishment. I miss the boxy hatchbacks of the 1980’s. So I hope someone figures a way to rescue this from the owner before it disappears forever under all that clutter. Those photos make me want to go clean my garage now.

Is this several more cars will be included? If that is the case, perhaps pull the interior out and put it in another car. Hopefully have enough ‘spare’ parts to put the car together and inventory the rest as there is likely no parts support for this car anymore. But then again, for $3500, you could have bought one of the Chevy Chevette’s or Vega’s that have been posted on here lately and have cash left over, with parts availability to boot. Friends shouldn’t let friends drive Yugo’s.
It was a very rough 1803 miles, just used for collecting roadside stuff.

Is it my imagination or does Barnfinds increasingly features cars covered in garbage, trash, furniture, etc. Perhaps Barnfinds needs a “dress code” of sorts stating all photos must show the car completely presentable.
I think you’re missing the point, Barnfinds does well without a dress code, it’s part of the cars story.
Besides that, Bf is not the seller and frequently mentions the bad pictures or lack of pictures in the ads. It’s up to the seller!

I bit and messaged the seller asking about the mileage and condition. I legitimately want a Yugo. I used to work for a one time Yugo dealer. He messaged me back right away, but he can’t even give a straight answer on the milage other than saying it’s 100% there and perfect. It took some doing but I finally got him to give me the story. The car was damaged, hence the fender and hood but was still driveable. It was driven into storage and parked, 3 weeks after it left the dealership and then never touched. He’s firm at $3500 and insists that it’s the best Yugo you will ever find.

Well it is a Yugo, it did run 1800 miles and was parked with it’s hood up with parts that fell off. Sounds about right.
