40k Mile 1994 Chevrolet Corvette 6-Speed Convertible

The C4 Corvette remains one of the best values in the used sports car landscape, especially if you find a few modifications to make it even more of a performer. The standard model has shortcomings, but they can be addressed via the aftermarket from both the handling and speed perspectives. We like this drop-top 1994 Chevrolet Corvette listed here on craigslist for its rare factory Competition Yellow paint and because it has the desirable 6-speed manual and appears to have been lowered slightly. With only 40,000 original miles, it’s also relatively fresh. Thanks to Barn Finds reader Mitchell G. for the find.

The later C4 still looks damn good, in my opinion, and the freshened-up front and rear fascias will always look modern to me. The seller notes that it is “98 percent” original, and our guess is the lowered ride height constitutes most of those adjustments from stock condition. Of course, since this isn’t a ZR1 or a Gran Sport, we see no issues with modifying a C4 such as this, and frankly, too many owners treat these like future collectibles. The reality is they simply made too many, and unless you own a car with time capsule miles in one of the exceedingly rare colors (this is close, but not overwhelmingly rare), you should feel free to tweak these cars to your heart’s content. The condition of this one appears to be excellent, no doubt helped by its low mileage.

The manual transmission is a rare find in the later C4s, which seemed to mostly get the optional automatic gearbox. This livens up the driving experience significantly, and makes an example like this ideally suited for both road and track. I’ve seen plenty of C4s devour more powerful cars on the autocross circuit, and they also make for an affordable entry for track day shenanigans. Of course, a drop-top isn’t the best choice for that application, but I’d love to see this one equipped with a roll bar and some fat slicks for cone carnage in a local autocross event.

While everyone craves more power, 300 b.h.p. routed to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual seems like a perfect time in my book. Maybe it’s due to my age or the rough output of my cars on average, but 300 horsepower is a great number to keep things entertaining without being in constant danger of getting arrested. $20,000 is a lot for even a low-mileage Corvette like this one, so hopefully, the seller has some flexibility in his ask; $18,000 seems like a significant number to me to bring home a car that has likely peaked in terms of future value. What do you think? Is the seller asking for the right amount of money for a low-mileage C4 convertible?

Nice car. Ride height looks the same as the two in our neighborhood. Good looking car too compared to the previous model.

6-speed is mentioned at least four times in the write-up along with the article headline.

When it was first written and uploaded to early access it said 5-speed. The author fixed it. Settle down

I had a ’95 coupe automatic. EEE feet precluded a 3-pedal car due to the narrow foot wells. 300hp is more than adequate unless you have adrenaline deficiency issues.

At $20 k , its better to shop for a c5 with trunk and LS engine , i own a c4 vert with low kms and this guy is dreamin while weedin!
Having owned a boxster for a few years with a frunk and a trunk and next a c4 , i can assure you that you miss having the convenience of SPACE with the c4 lacks , grocery bags and hardware stuff dropped on a pristine red leather seat makes no sense and the storage under the roof is totally useless ,been too busy to use it or sell it but it has to go …
