Incredible survivor doesn’t begin to describe the condition of this beautiful 20,400-mile, one-owner 1991 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat 4×4 pickup, but it’s a good start. My newer vehicles barely look this nice and to see one this old in this condition is inspiring. The seller has it listed here on eBay in Chester, New York and the current bid price is $14,200 but the reserve isn’t met yet. Quick poll: this truck for $20,000 or a new truck for $50,000? Dumb question.
The seller has loaded almost two dozen good photos showing the condition of this truck inside and out, top to bottom, and it truly looks like it’s in incredible condition. 1991 doesn’t seem that long ago to us old folks (over 40) but it was thirty-one years ago which is older than a decent percentage of Barn Finds readers. When I started here over six years ago, people gasped if I showed a vehicle in the 1980s let alone the early-90s, but now it’s common to see them here.
Ford made their eighth-generation F-series pickup from 1986 for the 1987 model year up until the end of 1991 for North America and they lasted another year or three in other countries. They were still boxy but smoother and had something we take for granted today: composite headlights. Not to mention being the first pickup to have standard rear antilock brakes. Sadly, the Flareside bed would go away with this generation other than a few leftover beds used on 1987 trucks. The underside looks great with just a few areas of surface rust and the bed looks perfect, from what we can see of it in this photo.
As expected, the interior of this XLT 4×4 looks basically like a new truck. The front seat and dash both look perfect to me and this one doesn’t have a hairy-knuckle 5-speed manual, it’s a column-shifted automatic and you can see that it also has power windows. We take those for granted today but the XLT Lariat is a fancy trim level F-Series so it’s not surprising to see them. The back seat also looks great and this is the era before four-door pickups became a necessity for commuters.
The engine is Ford’s 302 cubic-inch V8 and the seller says that this truck runs and drives flawlessly “and can be driven any distance with complete confidence.” Everything works as it should including the ice-cold air-conditioning. How about that question: would you rather have this truck or a new one?
Really, really nice truck and I’m not even a truck guy. FYI, for the seller/Math Major: 2022-1991 = 31 year old truck. Some one will be getting a nice vehicle.

I am a huge F-150 fan. I always thought this was the ugliest incarnation. In this condition though, I’d welcome it into my garage.
1992 I bought a new leftover 91 F-150 Lariat Regular Cab Short Bed 4X4. I think it was still on the lot because it had every option except automatic transmission and it was two tone Rangoon red and candy apple red. I thought it was beautiful. People commented on it even when it was ten years old. I pampered it. My wife borrowed it and whipped into a parking lot too sharply and caught a security bollard and tore the whole passenger side of the body sheet metal off. Front fender to brake light. I still miss that truck.
Man, if this was a 92 I’d be all over it. The 92-97 front end was the best since 53-56 imho. That said, this is a beauty, someone will get a nice truck here.

After watching the prices of 80’s and 90’s trucks at Mecum Indianapolis over the last weekend, this seems to be a screaming bargain on a very nice truck that’s appreciating in value.
Cool, I have a 1993 F150 powered by the near indestructible 4.9L 6. It’s a work truck that’s been in NV/AZ it’s entire life. I hope it’s value is going up like this one. But I doubt it
