This 1980 Ferrari 308 GTBi sounds like it has quite a story. The most intriguing detail is how it was found, along with several other classics, which were apparently stored in former cargo trailers. This particular GTBi also wears its flaws proudly while still being incredibly complete, with lots of details that are often lost when cars transfer between owners. It is now listed here on Ebay with 24,000 original miles and also comes with some incredibly choice period-correct stereo modifications, as the previous owner apparently used the car for audio competitions.

I do not know the context of this photo, but it certainly shows the Ferrari being used in a competitive setting. Was it just a parade lap at a motorsports event, or did the previous owner also use the car on the track for high-performance driving events? There’s no wrong answer, of course, but it adds to the colorful history of a car that was frequently only used as a trophy. The fact that it seems the owner who stashed it in the trailer used it for both showcasing stereo equipment and wringing out at local track days just makes the history even more entertaining.

We want to show you a little bit of everything, but it’s impossible; first of all, there’s the color combination: Silver (Argento Auteuli) with Boxer Paint (Satin Black lower body) and a stunning Red (Rosso) leather interior. Of course, fans of 80s audio equipment will notice just to the right of the steering wheel the iconic stalk for the Blaupunkt Berlin 8000 head unit. Whenever you look through brochures showcasing modified European performance cars of the 1980s, many of them had this high-priced aftermarket head unit. Other photos show what looks like an OEM Ferrari car cover, which I’m sure is next to impossible to find.

The seller shows many of the car’s flaws, including cracking paint and various scuffs and other cosmetic damage. While the Ferrari was kept dry inside the storage container, it may not have had the best temperature controls. The car suffers from K-Jetronic issues that occur when performing hot starts, and  the seller has improvised a work-around for the time being. Of course, there are numerous other issues to sort out, but the good news is that the impressive 2.9-liter naturally aspirated V8 still runs, producing 205 b.h.p. and 179 lb-ft of torque. What a cool find – and a great story, too.

The story I want to hear is about the owner. Two possibilities in my humble opinion, neither lets a person keep lunch inside after hearing them.
