$3,200 OBO: 1992 Dodge Ram 150

This 1992 Dodge Ram 150 doesn’t look like a gamble, despite it being located in Las Vegas, Nevada. It can be found here on Craigslist with an asking price of $3,200 or best offer – cash only. Thanks to Pat L. for sending in the tip on this Ram pickup!

A 1992 pickup that looks this good doesn’t seem old enough to be shown here, but the first-generation Ram pickup looked basically the same from 1981 to 1993. I don’t really see any flaws on the exterior at all other than some evidence of being used as a truck. What a concept.

I can’t imagine finding a better looking, somewhat-old pickup for this amount of money. The tailgate and rear bumper are about the only areas that show any real wear that I can see. A rear-wheel-drive 1/2-ton pickup is what most of us would need most of the time. Four-wheel-drive would be handy for those of us in the snow belt or for off-road use but as far as day to day hauling goes, this would suit me just fine.

This is the only interior photo and I’m guessing that the desert sun has messed with the steering wheel and seat a bit but we don’t know for sure. The seller says that it’s a “2WD, Automatic transmission, 158k miles, ice cold air conditioning everything works great.” As nice as this truck looks, by 1992 the Dodge Ram was a little long on the tooth compared to Ford and Chevy pickups.

Other than the corrosion on the AC bits, this engine looks incredibly clean. This is Dodge’s 360 cubic-inch V8 which should have just under 200 hp. The seller says that this is a “Good looking and great runnin truck.” From what I’ve read, the 360 had throttle-body fuel-injection since 1989. This looks like a nice truck. It’s not the oldest or most classic one shown here but it seems like a good deal for anyone looking for an older pickup.

Since this is a 92 model this body style had one more year to go before the big rig style Ram came along in 94.
Plus, since the air cleaner reads, “Magnum” we must assume this is either the 3.9 V6 or the 5.2 V8 which had multiport injection. The 5.9 didn’t get it until 93.
Looks like it’s had a repaint at one time.

Where I am in Mexico the Chevys and the Fords bring big money, but you can’t give away a Dodge.

It is a shame as they aren’t really bad trucks.

Also, the enclosed versions of these trucks are extremely cheap. Tahoes and Ramchargers are so cheap it is a crime not to buy them.

Looks like a solid truck in pretty good shape, though with a lot of miles. No apparent rust is a plus and at the price offered, there’s room to put some money it. It’s 27 years old, so it’s getting up there in age.

Here in Connecticut, any vehicle 25 years old or older qualifies for Classic plates so I’ll be putting them on my ’97 Ford Ranger soon. With Classic plates you get a break on vehicle property taxes which the state steals from residents every year. Insurance rates can be lower too. Connecticut ranks 47th out of 51 states(including D.C.) in vehicle property taxes( #1 being the lowest, #51 being the highest) so any break helps us over-taxed auto enthusiasts. Oh, we’re #48 in real estate property taxes, too. So I drive old cars not only because I like them but because I can’t afford a new one.

Nice price. With classic plates in Ontario, Canada you get a break on the annual licensing fee. There are many restrictions imposed. You are really supposed to be using them to go back and forth to a car show or parade. Collector car insurance is 90% cheaper but is also very restrictive as you cannot drive in a shopping plaza, to work or in the snow.

Being a 92 and the air cleaner reads, “Magnum” it has to have either the 3.9 V6 or the 5.2 V8, which both have multipoint injection. The 5.9 didn’t get it until 93.
Also the body style had one more year left.
Nice truck, looks like it’s had a repaint sometime.

That vintage would have had a slant 6 if it had a 6 cylinder

Dodge trucks were basically the same platform and body from 1972-93 so this truck was a 20 year old design when it was new! That’s not necessarily a bad thing, just a fact. I always liked these trucks a lot, though not a fan of the last grill they used on them, like this one has.
