This 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle is an interesting car in that it was ordered as a Malibu but has many of the characteristics of a Super Sport. 327 cubic-inch V8. 4-speed manual transmission. Bucket seats with a console. It runs, but only around the yard or for loading and unloading. A wrap was applied over the paint many years ago, and it has deteriorated badly (and there is some rust). Equipped with a matching numbers tranny, this 1967 Chevy is in Rancho Cucamonga, California, and is available here on eBay where the current bid is $3,150 (no reserve).
The Chevelle was in its fourth year in 1967 and was one of the most successful product launches of the GM division. It began in 1964 in part as a response to Ford downsizing the Fairlane in 1962, creating a niche between the Galaxie and Falcon. General Motors would get on board with that concept two years later with every brand except Cadillac. A major styling refresh was done in 1966, so the ‘67s only had new grilles and taillights. The SS 396 had become a series in 1966, but the overall Super Sport was still a popular option.
Under the hood of this Malibu resides a period-correct 327 4-barrel (likely rebuilt some time ago) paired with the original 4-speed manual. We’re told the machine is “very complete,” so we assume any parts you don’t see in the photos are there somewhere. The cowl tag indicates the original paint code was GG, which stood for Granada Gold Poly, but a blue vinyl wrap was added at least 10 years ago, and the California sun has thoroughly baked it.
This Chevy may have lived in California all its life, including being assembled in Fremont in the middle of the year. The interior is as rough as the exterior, but at least it was equipped for fun with optional bucket seats rather than a bench. Much of the corrosion seems to be focused on the rear window/roof area and the quarter panels. The seller provides ample photos for you to see what you may be getting yourself into. It’s hard to say, prices vary based on the time of year, the cars condition, options and where it’s being sold. This car is pretty rough, with a lot of rust for a California car, though it has some good options such as the 4spd, bucket seats and console. That also doesn’t account for what’s popular in the market, the popularity and price of specific cars often fluctuates over time. Cars like this Chevelle will always be in demand. The end of summer is a bad time to sell a car, kids are going back to school and the bills for vacations and other summer are coming due. It will be interesting to see what this car sells for.

I agree with ya Steve. Our first son-in-law (we have two) built (with a family friend who had a professional auto body repair shop) a 1967 Malibu from a junkyard wreck into a Chevelle SS427 tribute (actually now bored out to a 468cid). Nice car and as his mentor guided our son-in-law through a very traumatic time in his earlier life, he is here to enjoy it all as his mentor gave the car to him as a wedding present at his marriage to our eldest daughter. Thus, this FoMoCo guy has a soft spot for 1967 Chevelles.

I have a 67 El Camino had it for decades. My Pet. Good 283, body a bit rough but all there.
Seller lists as 327/300 but it would be a 327/275. Also would be a Saginaw 4-speed, not a Muncie.
Based on when this car was built (June trim tag) it should have a 12-bolt axle (they upgraded 327/275 4-speeds from 10-bolts to 12-bolts some time in May of 67). But the pics show a 10-bolt. So either an axle swap, or a factory anomaly. (Mistakes certainly weren’t rare at the Fremont plant!)

No, the 1965 console is pot metal. They reproduce them, if interested you can find pictures on eBay or by Googling 1965 Chevelle console.

I had a 67 Malibu years ago I sure do miss it . A young rookey cop took it from me and I wasn’t able to get it out of impound and lost it . Xmas of 2000 in Downey CA. I had just got it all fixed up with Ford truck 9 inch rear end and a 350 motor with B&M shifter with turbo trans and Rally rims it was a sweet one .
No telling what the engine is without running the numbers it has blue heads probably a 80s 305….
The passenger cylinder heads has no accessory bolt holes so it’s from 1968 or earlier. People made the same mistake the other day on a 1967 Camaro featured on this site, it too had blue paint on the valve covers and maybe the heads. They didn’t look past the color and look at the actual parts.

Likely so. When the seller ended the auction there had been 11 bids, the highest of which was $3,500. Good chance someone wanted it and made an offer high enough for the seller to end the auction early. I have friends that have ended auctions early on vehicles they had listed. It put an early end to the misery of endless questions and comments.

You shouldn’t be allowed to end no reserve auctions earlier. If someone wanted they should have to bid on it.
Just needs a little polish and a set of floor mats. Be good to go.
That was a fun car back in it’s day.
