This 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle is an interesting car in that it was ordered as a Malibu but has many of the characteristics of a Super Sport. 327 cubic-inch V8. 4-speed manual transmission. Bucket seats with a console. It runs, but only around the yard or for loading and unloading. A wrap was applied over the paint many years ago, and it has deteriorated badly (and there is some rust). Equipped with a matching numbers tranny, this 1967 Chevy is in Rancho Cucamonga, California, and is available here on eBay where the current bid is $3,150 (no reserve).
The Chevelle was in its fourth year in 1967 and was one of the most successful product launches of the GM division. It began in 1964 in part as a response to Ford downsizing the Fairlane in 1962, creating a niche between the Galaxie and Falcon. General Motors would get on board with that concept two years later with every brand except Cadillac. A major styling refresh was done in 1966, so the ‘67s only had new grilles and taillights. The SS 396 had become a series in 1966, but the overall Super Sport was still a popular option.
Under the hood of this Malibu resides a period-correct 327 4-barrel (likely rebuilt some time ago) paired with the original 4-speed manual. We’re told the machine is “very complete,” so we assume any parts you don’t see in the photos are there somewhere. The cowl tag indicates the original paint code was GG, which stood for Granada Gold Poly, but a blue vinyl wrap was added at least 10 years ago, and the California sun has thoroughly baked it.
This Chevy may have lived in California all its life, including being assembled in Fremont in the middle of the year. The interior is as rough as the exterior, but at least it was equipped for fun with optional bucket seats rather than a bench. Much of the corrosion seems to be focused on the rear window/roof area and the quarter panels. The seller provides ample photos for you to see what you may be getting yourself into.
