3,600 Mile 1984 Chevrolet Corvette

With a complete exterior redesign, a new chassis, and technology upgrades, Chevrolet’s C4 Corvette was a big change from the third-generation model that preceded it. Unfortunately, it was also more expensive than its predecessor, which led to fluctuating sales during its production run from 1984 to 1996. Barn Finds reader Pat L. found this 1984 Chevrolet Corvette here on Craigslist, and it is a shockingly clean and low-mile example of a first-year C4, especially for the seller’s asking price.

This Corvette is available in Golden Valley, Arizona with a clean title. The seller is the second owner of the vehicle, noting that it began life in Las Vegas, Nevada and they purchased it in 2016. Not only did the car receive plenty of maintenance under the current ownership tenure, but the seller also adds that they have receipts for this ‘Vette dating back to day one. When describing the ride, the seller states; “This car is a cream puff, with its beautiful white paint and striking red leather interior, are arguably the most attractive color combinations for Vette.” I agree with that, especially regarding the beautiful red interior.

One of the items that did carry over from the C3 Corvette is the engine – every 1984 C4 used the L83, which was a 5.7-liter V8 engine that made 205 horsepower and 290 lb.-ft. of torque from the factory. The L83 in this example pairs to an automatic transmission to drive the rear wheels, and it only has 3,600 miles on the drivetrain. Additionally, the seller adds that upon purchasing the vehicle, they brought it to a local Chevrolet dealership for a thorough tune-up, which included a new fuel pump, new fuel filter, cleaned fuel injectors, a new battery, new tires, and rear differential service, as well as work to the air conditioning, cooling, steering, and transmission systems.

For just $7,500, this Corvette could be yours. What do you think of this reasonably-priced low-mile C4?

That was a great price for miles and service too.

I recall reading that GM built only 10 1983 models and all were crushed. Lucky you!

AFAIK the only remaining 83 is in the Corvette Museum so I have to agree if someone actually has an 83 it should be worth some coin.

Classic- You better stop driving that “1983” , as you have the only one on the road in the world. It must be worth at least a $1,000,000! I hope it is not a daily driver. :)

$7,500? Holy cow. Looks like that’s a “priced for a quick sale” level for one of these!

IMHO, the least liked & worst built Corvette of them all. But apparently somebody thought different………

A 2003 Nissan Sentra GXE with 3,600 miles on it would probably bring in $7,500. And we don’t know if he got the full ask either. If anything, I think this price solidifies how undesirable these are.

If my math is right is right it cost about 7 dollars a mile to own it. The new buyer got a great deal,in my opinion if the car is as good as it sounds.

Bought a ’84 Vette when I got out of the service. It was such a hard ride even at the age of 20 something. Later, bought a ’93 and wow what a difference in ride quality.

I am on the fence about a ’94 with 66k on the clock. For 5500. New tires and tune up. Very nice. Has clear coat peal slightly on nose. It rides better than my ’69

Just make sure it is not 166K and go for it!
