A known ownership history and a verified low odometer reading. This 1982 GMC Sierra ticks two of the most crucial boxes for someone seeking a classic Pickup to park in their garage. Add its rust-free status and almost total originality to the equation, and this Sierra stands out from the crowd. It was the prized possession of the seller’s late father, but the time has come for this classic to find a new home. I must say a big thank you to Barn Finder Mitchell G. for spotting the GMC listed here on Craigslist in Hopewell Township, Pennsylvania. The seller set their price at $16,000 OBO for a Pickup that appears to need nothing.

General Motors released its Third Generation C/K-series for the 1973 model year, marketing its latest offering as both a Chevrolet and a GMC. It underwent a mid-cycle upgrade in 1981, with our feature GMC Sierra rolling off the line the following year. The first owner ordered it in a wonderful combination of White and Bright Red, guaranteeing that it would turn heads wherever it goes. The seller describes the Pickup as “absolutely mint,” although examining the supplied images reveals a few minor paint flaws and defects. However, none of the shortcomings are significant, and a reputable shop should have no trouble performing isolated repairs without compromising the vehicle’s survivor status. The seller states that the Sierra has been garage-kept throughout its life, helping to explain its rust-free status. Prone areas like the rockers and lower cab corners are solid, while the underside shots reveal floors and a frame that are clean enough to eat off. The trim and glass look exceptional for their age, and the Rally wheels help to give this classic a sense of presence.

The positive vibes continue inside this Sierra, with its Red vinyl upholstered surfaces showing no evidence of wear or physical damage. A large rubber mat protects the matching carpet, and the dash and pad haven’t succumbed to age or UV exposure. The interior isn’t loaded with creature comforts like air conditioning or power windows, but the removable armrest/console is a practical addition that increases the versatility. It might not be the most lavish interior on the planet, but its condition further confirms that this Pickup has led a sheltered existence.

Powering this GMC is a 305ci V8, teamed with a three-speed automatic transmission. This isn’t a 4×4 version, meaning that the motor’s 130hp and 240 ft/lbs of torque feed to the back wheels. That isn’t the most potent package on the planet, but the Sierra should haul respectable loads fairly effortlessly. The seller states that this Pickup has a genuine 48,000 miles on the clock, and it appears that the figure is documented. They also welcome in-person inspections, suggesting that this gem is a turnkey proposition hiding no nasty surprises.

Parting with this 1982 GMC Sierra must have been a tough call for the seller, especially considering how deeply their late father cherished this classic. It has no apparent needs, and preserving this gem is a valid option. It could also serve as an accomplished shop truck or as an excellent promotional tool for the right business. Whatever its future holds, I hope that the new owner continues to treat it respectfully. It deserves nothing less.

It’s nice, but priced like a short bed, the lack of convenience options won’t help its cause.

Good luck on the low mileage truck sale. I agree with Steve above that this is a base model as many were sold to be used as a truck to beat about in as a work truck.

I like the truck and have an 82 GMC 3/4-ton truck and use on a 50-acre property in another state as a working farm truck. My truck is mainly used on the farm and not used for long hauls. It had for years guaranteed trade value due to a recall lawsuit from design issues with its dual gas tanks on each side of the rear bed in front of the frame. A class action lawsuit settled from the tanks in rare instance imploding due to poor design for safety.

The car is sweet looking but again it’s what the market will bear and maybe this is a truck someone first bought in their youth or like their relatives that brings back memories.

I understand that the wheelbase effects the value but if I was in the market it wouldn’t stop me. Long box has its own merit. This thing looks minty fresh. Two tone in good colors, slotted wheels and clean interior are very attractive.

The 305 might kinda hurt it, along with 2wd, along with the long bed. The only one of those 3 that I don’t like is the 305. Less power, similar gas mileage as the 350, from my experience. I actually kind of like the long bed just for the mere fact that no one else seems to and you just do not see them around in decent condition anymore. I can’t tell for sure if there’s a compressor, but I don’t see a drier where I think it would be on the firewall, so no AC? That would be a downer.

By ’82 the 305 may have been you V8 choice unless you bought the 6.2 Detroit. Seemed like they had a 2bbl and the 4bbl ESC.
