Here’s an interesting one: this 1992 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 convertible is listed as a manual transmission-equipped model, but clearly shows an automatic transmission in the cabin photos. The seller mentions that he is including a manual transmission and pedal box with the sale, so it appears his dreams of 5-speed shifting in his Fox body were premature, at least to the point he’s already envisioning it as such. Regardless, this is a desirable color in a Fox body, and with under 65,000 original miles, the potential is there to have a convertible with the right miles, engine, color, and transmission. Find it here on craigslist with an ask of $14,000.

I believe this is what we’d call Deep Emerald Green, which is a very pretty color and a reminder of my previous diatribe of how popular green used to be (it’s now enjoying its second act, as green regains its footing as a desirable color.) The Fox body Mustang was also available in an equally memorable shade known as Calypso Green, which is possibly harder to find and even more striking in person. Right out of the gate, the paint is helping this Mustang stand out compared to the typical reds and blacks, and if it loses the window tint shown in the first photo, it’d look even better. The white top and boot appear to be in good condition, and mesh nicely with the white leather interior.

The 5.0L V8 needs no introduction here, and it looks like it has been spared numerous modifications. I see a cold air intake and not much else. The exhaust looks stock, but who knows if it had headers or an aftermarket system that retains the stock-style mufflers. The engine produces 225 horsepower and 300 lb.-ft. of torque in stock form, and it’s this reasonably powerful output that has kept the Fox body a fan favorite for decades: more than enough to have a good time, but plenty of room for improvement if you want to go bigger and badder. The seller doesn’t detail any modifications, but it overall looks like a stock car outside of the intake.

The included 5-speed swap hardware is an interesting value-add. I’ve now converted two vehicles from automatic to manuals, and the process is never as simple as you’d like. There are always some small pieces that go missing, or something that doesn’t quite go in the way it came out. Fortunately, the parts bin for a Fox body is about as big as it can be, so finding a missing component shouldn’t be too much of a headache. For our Mustang enthusiasts, is there any impact on the center console? Do you need to source new plastic trim parts? Regardless, a 5-speed swapped ‘Stang will be well worth the effort, especially if you can’t find one with these miles in this shade of green. Thanks to Barn Finds reader T.J. for the find.

This colour combination reminds me of the 7Up edition. Someone in my neighbourhood in Moncton, New Brunswick had one when I was living there a few years ago.
My buddy bought a brand new loaded LX sedan in this color. He had every luxury interior option available, 3.08s out back, 5sp, was a fantastic and great looking car in the dark green paint.
Suddenly, I feel like drinking an uncola.
Someone call Ford and run the VIN – see if it IS a 7up car
